Used this book to prepare for a NY civil service exam, provided great examples for test questions.

This prep book goes over a lot of questions, but in my case it was overkill for the exam. The questions in this book go over a lot of specifics about environmental science, especially about pollution treatment that I worried about needlessly. The questions I experienced on exam day were not only of a different format, but also covered a much narrower range of topics. Try to find out the scope of the test beforehand.
I'd recommend reading a national level newspaper daily to become familiar with proper grammar and narratives and playing video or board games that use memory skills to prepare rather than buy this book. That being said, sometimes having a test-oriented book is what you need to get into a proper test taking mindset and preparation routine. |
