Review
"There is a need to clarify the distinction between the role of ecological science and that of social and political values for environmental education. This collection addresses this need by examining the changing perspectives of ecology in education and of education in environmental science."

Book Description
Great efforts have been made to improve understanding of the environment via programmes offered by educational establishments, government agencies, NGOs and industry groups among others. Criticism exists that sometimes environmental 'education' is actually 'advocacy' of particular values and beliefs, and that there is no real definition of what constitutes environmental education. The editors have assembled a strong team to examine the issues arising from the use and abuse of the term 'ecology' in environmental education, in an attempt to encourage ecologists to become more engaged with education at all levels.
