Ive also used the amazing mold putty and like it but this one does give you alittle more working time as well as the resin they make also.

First, this is PUTTY. So if you have air bubbles..you're doing it wrong. Basically this is two part Silly Putty. You sit and knead it with your fingers until there are no streaks of white left. It is not "poured" it is a solid product. It is basically for anything you want an impression of, it's IMO not good if you want to do something like a ring, but I admit I'm more into pourable silicone which is a totally different product. For a flatter ring it might work and I'll be experimenting with it. If, on the other hand, you want to make things like plaster moldings for dollhouses, or even to pour low melt metals in, it's perfect. Also great for those of you who do polymer clay work. If you want to "cast" something more 3 dimensional on the other hand, get pourable silicone rubber.

Keep this stuff in mind for things like pendants, or moldings, and it is food grade, so fondant. I do metal casting and this works for that as well although you do kill the life of the mold faster. You can also use it for smaller guest sized soaps, although, I really suggest pouring silicone rubber for big bars of soap.

There's no smell, the odd greasy sensation may throw some off however, but it's totally normal for silicone putty. Use gloves if it's that big of a deal.

Good sized for what you will probably use it for. They do have bigger sizes if you need to do several molds. It does help if you use a container (for one mold I used the top of a soda bottle for a really small charm mold) so that your mold looks a little neater if you care about that sort of thing.

Set up is quick, but not so fast you don't have time to get a good impression.

This product is very easy to use, but not for the faint of heart or hesitant person - it sets up fast so you need to work quickly. When you mix the two colors, mix carefully so you don't fold in air bubbles. If you can abide by these two things - working fast and not folding in air bubbles - you will be able to produce highly detailed, high quality molds very quickly. I use my molds for polymer clay and you don't need a release agent. Hundreds of uses and no loss of detail. I only make molds of smaller items - 2" or less - I think that this would set up too fast to use it for making larger molds.

I am sure I will work through this problem but it started to set much faster than stated. So I wasted a lot of material initially. Within the short time I finished kneading together the 2 parts, it would not properly wrap around form as it was already firm and setting up. I have done lost of casting and mold making of various sorts in the past so I should have had no problem ......perhapse the key is to mix in little bits and build up, but that would leave joining lines.. I tried the other brand that is the same as this product and had same problem. I believe there is even another putty with a very long set time. Might try that but think I will just go to pouring silicon molds....thought this 2 part putty method would be easier and less expensive but now I don't think so.... But that's just me.

This casting mold was easy to work with; however, it set up a little too quickly. You better get your mold right the first time because it sets up so quickly, you don't have time to redo or make any changes. I pretty much wasted at least half of the product.

This is a very great product for achieving tiny details in molds, but if you do not have a tiny ornate object, there are MUCH cheaper ways to get your mold. You could use clay (such as air dry, or oven-bake clays like polymer etc.) This is incredibly expensive per ounce, and they tell us that we have 3 minutes of set time. NOT TRUE! I wasted an entire pound of this the first time I used it because it set much faster. I found that I had 30-60 seconds of real moveable time. Otherwise, if the putty was not on the item to be molded, I lost half the details, and could not use any of it.

One GREAT MONEY SAVING TIP that I discovered for this very expensive item is this:

*Mix the two colors together evenly, and then very quickly put the fully mixed putty onto your item to be molded.
*Then, once the putty is 'mushed' into every single little crevice, quickly turn it over (with the item still 'mushed' in the molding putty) and use the backside of the molding putty as a surface to press other items into.
---This way, you are doubling the amount of molds that you get out of the putty! ...So, use both front and back sides of the putty when molding.

Otherwise, this is beautiful stuff. Just be fast, thurough and careful, or you will be wasting so much money and time. Good luck, everybody! Have FUN!! :-)

I have nothing but love for this putty. It's amazing. You can make a cast of literally anything. I haven't found it great for clay, but I love it for resin, and it is so incredibly easy to use!

I received my 1 pound Easymold Silicone Putty kit and immediately starting playing. As the other reviews state you HAVE to work quickly. You have only three minutes to mix the two components together and get whatever you're molding set in place. I was doing a beach theme birthday cake so I wanted to make gumpaste molds of seashells, starfish, rocks, etc. It works great for these fairly simple things. It's not good for anything that is a little more complicated such as a turtle, shark or octopus. Too many nooks and crevices. To do something more complicated you should use something that has a longer set up time so you have the time to really work with it.
Overall I was very happy with it and will purchase again.
