Product Description

Size: 8 Ounces

Envirotex lite is a reactive polymer compound. It cures to a thick, glossy coating in about 8-hour at 70-Degree f, and reaches full strength and toughness in about 72-hour. This durable, resilient material requires no polishing to produce a high gloss. One coat is all that is usually required for a deep attractive finish. However, two or more coats maybe applied one over the other by simply wiping the surface with a clean cloth and alcohol prior to recoating. Envirotex lite may be used on wood, fabric, decals, bisque, photos, paper, metal, models, painted surfaces, dried flowers, plaster, rocks, sea shells, bread dough, styrofoam, and more.

I have used this product to clear coat over homemade signs that had photo's or decals and pinstripes mounted to them. Works great. You've got to make sure no dust or hair gets in the mixture while it is drying. I put the piece I'm working with in a giant clear plastic storage container, lid side down. The container is 18" x 30" and about 5" deep so it can hold some larger sign boards. The excess drips off on the inside of the lid. The drips need to be wiped away as they are dripping or you have 75 little hard lumps underneath when it dries. It isn't that easy to cut them off or sand them down, so its best to wipe them away before they harden. I use a flap from the Enviro Tex box or a small foam pad on a stick. You can cover the bottom side with masking tape, but you make end up with a sharp line where the resign end and the exposed wood starts. On some projects I have put a small amount of Envirotex over the back surface a week after the finish side has hardened.

The Enviro Tex doesn't not stick to the plastic storage container and can be removed in almost one big piece. Just flex the plastic cover and the Enviro Tex will lift off the plastic.

I coated some three inch and 6 inch tall wood letters by brushing the resign on surface with my finger tip. I didn't want the coating on the side of the letters as the wood tends to be a rougher cut of wood than the top surface. Once dry it looks like the clear coat is floating on the letters.

It is important to have all the needed materials at home with you so you have them when needed....For mixing, I bought a pack of 100 Jumbo Popsicle stirs for stirring. If you clean them off you can get multiple uses out of them. I bought a pack of striped paper drinking cups. Also keep a few bottles of Rubbing Alcohol handy for clean up.

This amazing 2-part polymer coating provides a crystal clear finish to countertops, tables, and nearly any other flat surface. As with any other product which you are using to make permanent changes to the item your working with, read the manufacturer's directions carefully, and when you're sure you understand them, re-read them again. After mixing, you have a about a half-hour of product "work" time, so be sure you have more-than-enough Envirotex Lite mixed, and all the tools you might need at your immediate disposal. A gas torch does an amazing job of removing bubbles and giving it that extra clear, level appearance, but, obviously, you should only use one if you are 100% certain you can operate it safely. I also recommend buying a small quantity kit, and practicing on a non-critical item before doing your master project. The completed project is not heat-resistant, not scratch-proof, and heavy objects will leave a "dent" that magically disappears, over time, after the object is removed. I'd rate it 5 stars if it were more scratch resistant. Otherwise: Great stuff! Amazing finish.

I had seen a blogger online, who had used this product to give her counter tops a high shine/granite look. There are a couple of other products out there to achieve this look, but they're expensive, and I really didn't want to spend close to $100 or more to redo my crappy bathroom counter tops, when we're hoping to gut our bathroom in the next couple of years. But in the off chance we have to wait a little while longer, this was a great temporary solution. used rustoleum's counter top coating kit (Rust Oleum 246068 Countertop Coating Kit, which I reviewed as well. Once I painted that, I simply used the sponge technique, using several different colors until I achieved a look that I was satisfied with. Since the sponge paint was quick to dry, I followed the directions to the letter and applied the envirotex on my counters, using a wide spackle knife to spread the product around. The best thing about this stuff is that it's self leveling, so once you move it around (which is pretty cool to watch), it will even itself out. I only got a 16 ounce kit, and I ended up running out 3/4 of the way through, and I only have a double vanity. So it doesn't go very far. It is VERY messy. Wear a tarp or something plastic. Wear gloves. Use things you will throw away. Protect EVERYTHING you don't want ruined. This stuff is ridiculously sticky. While it's very easy to work with, you may need a squirt bottle or small tool of some sort to get it into hard to reach areas. Also use a scraper for hanging drips. The best part is that there is virtually NO odor. Love it!

I got my product for 40% off at a craft store for about 12 bucks.

Enviro Tex Lite comes with two solutions that must be mixed together. When the combined solution bubbles, you know that you are almost ready to pour. It is recommended that you pour a very thin layer, and then pour another layer if you want it thicker. If the mix dries and hardens but bubbles are still visible, you can use a flame to release the bubbles. It took a lot of playing to learn the technique that works best, and the customer service people at Envirotex were very helpful. The directions clearly state to work in a well ventilated room, so beware before you start.

Once I learned the technique I found the mixing and pouring is easy, and my surface looks terrific! The finished product comes out thick and professional looking.
