EN-5100 Great Value,
By A Customer
This review is from: Envision EN-5100e 15" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
The Envision EN-5100 provides a wonderful view for a great price. The picture is very bright and clear. Setup is easy, take it out of the box and plug it into your graphics card and AC outlet, its that simple. Windows 2000 reckognizes it as a plug and play monitor, you must use the included Envision INF floppy disk driver to get it setup as an EN-5100 (though it works just fine if you don't). As of 10/03/01 Envision did not have the INF on the web.I looked at 2 other LCD monitors side by side before purchasing the EN-5100, even though the others cost more, I thought the Envision had a better picture for text based work. I'm not a graphic artist so color matching was not important, I'm not stating the colors are right or wrong, better or worse. I'm just stating I didn't compare colors, I wouldn't even know what to compare :) I did find one very small annoying feature, barely worth mentioning but... The OSD menu cannot be moved from the center of the screen during screen adjustments. When the monitor is presented a new video resolution it automatically configures itself including focus, brightness, contrast, vertical and horizontal positioning. For all the cases I presented it, it did a fine job of adjusting itself. In summary at least as of this writing, I think you'll be hard pressed to find an LCD monitor for the cost of the EN-5100 that looks as good.

Envision 15" LCD vs. Envision 17" and 3 CRT's,

This review is from: Envision EN-5100e 15" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I recently upgraded my Sony Triniton CRT Monitor to the Envision 15" LCD Flat panel. I compared many brands and even bought a few to try out at home because of the 14 day return policy at the two retail stores I visited. Amazon's prices were either identical or cheaper and I would have definately bought through them if I had known which monitor I wanted in the beginning (It was much easier to return the ones I did not want here locally). So here is the low down. I tried the following monitors at home: Envision 15" LCD, Envision 17" LCD, Philips 17" Flat screen CRT (CRT=Cathode Ray Tube, which means its just like a regular TV/Bulky Type of monitor), Viewsonic 17" Flat Screen CRT and my Sony Trinitron CRT that had nothing wrong with it, but I just wanted something new. I also compared all the major brands of LCD's in the store: Viewsonic, Samsumg, KDS, NEC. I choose the Envision 15" LCD because it offers the best bang for the buck. Here how I broke it down: 1. The Envision 15" LCD had the brightest Display other than the Envision 17" (which was only marginally brighter) 2. Text was extremely clear (Just be sure to run it in its native resolution of 1024 x 768 at 75Hz 3. Very simple to hook up-I was up and running in 5 minutes 4. Viewing angles were great even though some of the reviews stated otherwise. 5. CRT's put me to sleep after a while due to eyestrain. I can surf all night with my LCD without a yawn. If you need a larger screen-The Envision 17" is a great choice, but cost $200 more. For most applications (I use my computer mainly for surfing the net, typing email, spreadsheets, and word processing) I found the 15" more than fine. I paid ... for my 15", which is only about ... more than I would have paid for a decent CRT. I think its well worth the extra $$$. I also gained half of my desk back. I am extremely satisfied with this product.

Quite exceptional 15" LCD Monitor,
By Steve Adcock (Colorado Springs, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Envision EN-5100e 15" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I will admit that I figured a little 15" monitor would severely lack the visual appeal I was after. However, after receiving the monitor and using it for a couple days I am very pleased with my purchase. I also use a 17" CRT monitor on my system, allowing me to perform direct comparisions. I am floored by the dramatic improvement on sharpness, color and contrast with the LCD. Text is crystal clear and very sharp and my desktop background, filled with bright oranges and yellows, screams to life with this LCD. I write on the web a lot, and this monitor does a great job rendering my textual writings. This LCD offers a 1024x768 maximum resolution, putting to sleep other CRT 15" monitors by quite a long shot. I can sit back in my chair and pick up the LCD very easily, turn it around and flip it over without hesitation. Although I'm not in the habit of playing with my computer hardware, it's nice to know that I can. This monitor is more than worth the price, and I'd GIVE my 17" CRT away before I'd SELL my 15" LCD. Definite A+. Steve

EXCELLENT VALUE,

The Envision EN-5100E is a excellent value. I have been looking for quite a while for a LCD flat panel monitor that had good picture quality without paying a fortune for it. It was very easy to set it up, I just plugged it in and it starting working. The monitor does come with a driver but, the instruction manual has to be printed off their web sight. The monitor is real good for pictures or text type work. I also liked the 3 year warranty that it comes with. Some of the other LCD flat panel monitors only have a 1 year warranty.

While not the top of the line, it more than does the job for a reasonably priced flat panel monitor. Crisp definition - easy plug and play set up - no problems whatsoever with Windows XP compatibility. Don't be fooled into thinking you have to pay more for the convenience of a flat panel. We've had it since Christmas of 2001 & use it for surfing, game playing, photo editing, & word processing, and we've been pleased on all counts. - 1 caveat: we had to download the user manual from Envision's site.

My wife and I bought an Envision 15" monitor for her computer at Thanksgiving. Simple to hook up, no configuation hassles, and a really nice picture. And you can't beat the price. Only hassle: Original unit was DOA. Exchanged it, and the new one works like a champ. Now I'm looking for an Envision 17" to replace my 19" CRT. No hesitation recommending this monitor!

Great for first Flat Panel,

As a student, I am always looking for a bargan. This is an awesome one! Dorm room space is limited, so I needed something small and sleak, as well as affordable. I looked around at the stores and priced and researched other monitors, however, this is the one that I chose. The picture is crisp and with no glare it makes sitting up at night writing research papers easier on the eyes. A definite for any college student...

After reading some of these reviews, I was worried what I would get when I opened up my new 15" monitor and hooked it up. I love it!!! No stuck or dead pixels at all.... The screen is very bright. Takes a little getting used to. The text is not nearly as bad as I had read about. It automatically configured itself and is working like a champ. Did I say I love it? This was definitely worth the money.

I replaced my 4 year old 15" CRT with this new LCD. I will admit I was not willing to spend $ for the top of the line since I figure I will be buying a new computer in about a year. All I can say is WOW! This monitor is fabulous. Sure, it took some getting used to with the way the colors play out on the screen. In fact, the colors are so vivid it almost hurts to look. I can live with that. It takes up no space on my desk. Hooked up in just 2 minutes. Highly recommend this one.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I admit it, I was bottom fishing for a low price. What a surprise - not only does this monitor look great (even when it's turned off), but the setup was no effort at all (Windows XP). I bought two and am more than satisfied. Outstanding value.
