Good -- If you get one with no dead/stuck pixels.,
(Disclaimer, I actually purchaed this monitor from a "big-box" retail store recently. I saw that Amazon sold it too, so I thought I'd give it a review here).
I'd actually give this monitor a 4 star rating if it wasn't for the fact that the first one I picked up had a dead green sub-pixel. A small issue (and barely noticeable which most usage) but with doing software development and a lot of technical writing, it was annoying. I exchanged it for another identical monitor and carefully inspected it for dead/stuck pixels and it was ok. The Picture is bright and crisp (at least with DVI, I have not tired VGA). The brightness adjustment is actually quite nice as I do a lot of work at night in a dimly lit office; so its nice to be able to turn the brightness way down -- a feature that a lot of other LCD's seem to lack. The 5ms refresh is quite adequate for game play as well. This could easily be a 5 star monitor simply based on value if the quality control was a bit better and the off-axis viewing was improved a bit. (Sitting directly in front of it is fine, but I think the 160 degree viewing angle is a bit exaggerated... at least in terms of "useful viewing angle".

Envison some quality control,
By Another note...if you buy this guy, don't attach it to it's base right away as it is a beast to remove if you need to return it/exchange it.

Wonderful monitor,
This review is from: Envision Professional G918w1 - LCD display - TFT - 19" - widescreen - 1440 x 900 / 75 Hz - 300 cd/m2 - 800:1 - 5 ms - 0.285 mm - DVI-D, VGA - black (Electronics)
This monitor has been working perfectly from day one and is a good add-on if you're looking to go with a dual monitor setup.

I've had this for two years now. It was great when I played games and lurked the web frequently. It is definitely great for the average user, the 800:1 and 16:10 were never problems for me until recently, when I decided I want to take my passion for gaming further and get a much better monitor with better resolution (looking at 1920x1080 16:9) for better looking graphics and be able to stream more efficiently. I would recommend this monitor to tons of people, it was great until I wanted something more beautiful and will use this monitor with another computer.
Hope that helps any. |
