Beat '94, January 4, 2000

This is a wailer, deserving high volume listening, in both senses. It's NOT ambient noise--it wants the front and center treatment, mixing free drumming with guitar plonking to lay down a base for some beat rhyming from Ranaldo and Hooker. Turn it up and pay attention, and imagine yourself there.

Dystopian blues never sounded so good, December 15, 1999

This review is from: Envisioning (Audio CD)
This CD contains some of the best ecstatic-noise excursions performed by Ranaldo. Hooker's free-jazz drumming makes more sense as propolsion for Lee's fluxuating odessey. The only draw-back is that there are times of unnecessary self-indulgence(ex. "Strike!")
An interesting note is that this CD was recorded right after Cobain's suicide, where the music does reflect the bewilderment and unfullilled prospects of 1994 America.
