Editorial Reviews

Review

"[Alain] erects the scaffolding of a thorough examination of collector's envy." - Nora Mahony, Times Literary Supplement

"Envy is a novel - or novella (125 airy pages, admirably translated from the Italian by Alastair McEwen and handsomely produced by the Pushkin Press) - about the possibility of a novel that remains unwritten, which is about as postmodern as it gets. It's all a tease – of the painter and his lawyers, of the reader, and of the author himself... elegant, witty and provocative." - Lewis Jones, New Statesman

I very much wanted to read this book on a trip that I was taking ending the summer. I requested that the seller ship it out as fast as possible as I knew if I didn't have it for the trip the likely hood of my reading the book was slim. They did send it with a rush request and for this I am appreciative. I did not get it before the trip sadly, but the effort made has made me a repeat customer. I did get to read this later on and it was good. Thank you all very much.
