Book Description

The only respite Meira has from her illness is writing in her journal and remembering Eorwulf. Or is he merely someone her imagination has conjured? She scribes every brush of his lips on hers, every touch of his hands. He knows her secrets and promises to take her away from all the pain. As Meira writes in her journal, the ink staining her fingers, it brings her closer and closer to Eorwulf.

Editorial Reviews

This is an endearing [tale] of how it is never too late in one's life to find love.
--Kali Edwards, Smashwords

From the Author

Every once in a while a story comes along that won't leave you alone until you write it. For me, this was that story. And although it's simple and short, it conveys a message that speaks volumes. I never intended for it to be the kind of story you'd need to have a tissue handy when you read it. Instead, it was the kind of story that I had to tell. The one that was in my head and unfolded as I wrote it. It's a story about believing in the impossible and holding on to those neverending dreams.

It's a story for those who believe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Haunting love story February 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The rhythm of this short story by Michelle Miles flows effortlessly, transporting the reader to another place and time. The dying Meira reflects on her love for Eorwulf in full-of-life, almost Emily Dickinson-style prose.

Meira's final act in life is to explain to her mother how she met the handsome and mysterious Eorwulf, and since her disease has left her mute, she must reveal in her last written words how it is he may help her move onto a new world -- an afterlife where she's healthy and beautiful and able to love him freely.

For such a short story, Eorwulf packs a lot of emotion, and although it ends with Meira's death, the reader is left with a happy ending as she at last has what she be with the strong, protective Eorwulf forever. A beautiful story, elegantly told.
