5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best...Subhumans...taking over your mind., May 20, 2004
This review is from: Ep-Lp (Audio CD)
Compiling their first four EP's on one CD, this album is seething with some of the best anarcho-punk music to come out of the 80's. If great punk is what you want then this album is a must have! Throughout the tracks the subhumans never fail to provoke the listeners emotions and make want want to get up and smash the system.
Througout this album, Lucas lashes out at everything from the threat of Nuclear holocaust (once again an all too relevant issue), the ubiquitous cancer of religion, and the inhumane cruelty of animal testing, to the corrupting influence of greed and materialism, and the pain of lost love.
Although there are other great punk albums out there, I don't think any of them compares to this one. Religious Wars is perhaps the greatest punk song ever written and from there this album falls very little. In an era when punk is being appropriated by mtv and big corporate record labels that try to pass off pathetic juvenile whining, and no-nothing politics as punk, it is great to put this album in the cd player and blast some old-school punk rock! What the Subhumans have produced here is punk music in the truest, rawest sense of the word, where the message is more important than the image; it is substance over style, it is a call to arms to all who oppose injustice, inequality and the corrupt political system of capitalism. As Lucas asks, "Who's going to fight the system? You? Me? or F&*#ing no one?"
