4.0 out of 5 stars Headphone Commute Review, December 7, 2007
This review is from: Ephemeral (Audio CD)
I thoroughly enjoyed this downtempo, glitchy synth-popish album with a ton of Japanese influence, and even Piana's child-like la-la-la-ing. It seems to me, that some of the Japanese sound, starts to make sense in the context of the post-war environment and its withheld culture. Take Sawako's half awake state of mind, Mono's reference to Kazuo Ishiguro's novel The Remains of the Day, and now Piana's own mood that parallels the one projected by (my all time favorite) author Haruki Murakami. It's no surprise than, that I feel entranced by this music. Personally, I'm glad that I don't understand the context behind lyrics - I want to imagine my own world. I only skimmed through the album twice, but it's bound to show up on my play list again. Favorite track: Little Girl Poems.
