WARNING: This is an old model, defective, November 27, 2009
This review is from: Epic 300 U Upright Exercise Bike (Sports)
I bought and returned the first unit -- the battery wouldn't charge. The electrical system didn't work. I returned it and got a second unit directly from the manufacturer -- the same problem. Today, I got the story after from their customer service tech department after a few calls and long waits.
This is a 2005 model. If the battery is allowed to go completely dead, an internal part -- the control panel -- goes dead and needs to be replaced. The tech said that since it is a 2005 model, it has probably been in the warehouse for a long time. So that's the problem, the battery has been drained for too long and the electronic control panel needs to be replaced. This was my second customer service call on the problem.
On the first customer service call, they said that I needed to ride the bike for about 20-30 minutes first to charge the battery. Without the electricity working, the resistence is very hard and moving the pedals is very difficult. Over several sessions, I managed to turn the pedals for over an hour, but still the electricity didn't start. On the second customer service call, I got the full story that the machine will never work because it sat too long unused (in their warehouse). Thanks guys for the unnecessary physical torture.
Now I'm past the 30 day return date. Their warranty only allows replacement parts. They knew just what the problem is, so they are going to send me a part to replace myself. That's going to be a complete circus. The internal components are rediculous, if you can remove the plastic sides without breaking them.
DON'T BUY THIS. By design, the control board will die if it's not used. I have the second unit which is defective because it sat too long in their warehouse. Now I'm ripped off for $400 and waiting for them to send me an electronic part which I'm supposed to replace myself -- they're selling defective junk.

Product is great we think?!, January 17, 2008

Have not been able to use this product yet as it requires assembly. This assembly required was not disclosed at the time of sale. We expected a ready to use product. For the price we paid for shipping and delivery, the product should have been assembled and ready for use. Additionally, product was left in the driveway in a box that looked as if it had been through a war. We still do not know if the product is functioning correctly.
