Product Description

Stay cool -- whether you're near an electrical outlet or not -- with this powerful, portable fan. Keep one or more on hand for emergency power outages, camping, sporting events or outdoor activities. And when the power is back, just plug it in.
Two Power Sources
Running on 8 "D" size batteries (not included), this fan's 10" blades deliver up to 40 hours of strong, reliable air flow. Or it can be plugged into any standard outlet using the included AC adapter. The batteries go into the U-shaped anti-tip base, their weight adding even more stability.
Great for Travel
The compact, folding design is easy to take with you on camping trips, beach parties, tailgating and other outdoor adventures, as well as to office cubicles or school classrooms with limited electrical access.
Two-Speed, Tiltable Fan Head
This versatile fan also lets you customize your breeze. You can set it on low or high speed. And you can adjust the angle of the fan head so that the breeze always hits just the right spot, whether the fan is sitting on the ground or a higher surface. Combining the portable convenience of a personal battery fan and the power of an electric box fan, it's really the only fan you need!

This is a very versatile fan - it can run on batteries (eight D-cell batteries) or from AC source (AC adaptor is included). Because it runs on batteries it can be used outdoors as well as indoors. And if you loose power when it is really hot, it can be used to cool you when nothing else works. It can stand using a fold out stand (which doubles as a battery holder), or the stand can be folded up to make the fan flat enough to work as a window fan. The fan has two setting: low and high. It is fairly quiet on a low setting and a bit lowder on a high settings (you can see/hear this in the attached video). It provides a nice flow of cool air on both settings. During a hot stretch this summer I found it to be very helpful to keep me cool by blowing air at my feet while I worked at my desk.

The fan is 12" by 12", with the fan blade size of 10". The stand extends 8.5" from the front panel of the fan. The detachable AC adapter cord is 58 inches.

The fan without batteries weighs 1 pound 15.2 oz. The eight D batteries add 2 pounds 7.5 oz. The top of the fan has a flat handle. The flat area of the handle also is wide enough to be be held by the window when I use it in the window fan configuration as shown in the attached video.

I received this fan from Epica for testing and sharing my experiences (good or bad) with the potential customers. I found it to be more versatile than any of my previous fans: indoor - outdoor - window - floor - desk. I am a fan of this fan and I recommend it.

Update 7/11/14
I like to see when reviewers post a follow up updates to see how product perform long term, so I wanted to add a one year follow-up. For the last year I have used this fan almost every day (as a woman of a certain age I like to work in a light breeze) and this fan is holding up as a champ. The only thing I wish was different is the length of its cord. I use it with an extension cord.

I would have given my eye teeth for this fan two weekends ago when a storm blew down a tree on our street, blocking the street and taking down the power lines, with the power not being restored for more than 24 hours. My in-laws a few miles away had power, but we couldn't drive away with our street closed. The fan would have made us a lot more comfortable in the sweltering heat and humidity.

Whatever. This is a really nice fan, and the ability to run it on either batteries or AC makes it far more versatile that the traditional AC-only fans of this size. One tip: Even if you plan on using the fan only with AC power, it's a good idea to insert 8 D-cells in the base, even if the batteries are dead, since it makes the base more stable and the fan less likely to tip over if it's bumped. Even with batteries inserted, the fan only weighs about 4.4 pounds, making it very portable.

The 10" fan puts out a surprising amount of air flow. Indoors, with the high speed setting, I could feel air moving at 15+ feet away, from straight out to about 20-30 degrees each side of center in a conical pattern. Then I took the fan out on the front porch and set it on a bench about eight feet away while I watched the hummingbirds at our feeder, and it made it noticeably more comfortable in the 88-degree heat.

As useful as the fan is for indoors during power outages or to allow setting the air conditioning thermostat a bit higher, the fan really comes into its own for outdoor use. I've already skipped one outdoor concert this summer, because I can't take the heat, and the little handheld battery fan I have isn't much help. The Epica fan would make the hot weather a lot more tolerable for outdoor events like concerts, picnics, cookouts, and the like.

I have to say, this is one awesome fan. It's much larger in person then I expected it would be. What makes it really nice is how FAST the fan blades spin. I have a tabletop fan on my side of the bed in the bedroom and I set this one up on my husbands side of the bed. I was blown away (pun intended) by the difference in how much wind the two fans produced. While they are similar in size, the fan blades on this Epica fan spin probably twice as fast!

Not only does this fan work well for moving air around, it also can be powered with batteries in addition to the included AC adapter. So if your somewhere without a plug in (camping, RV'ing, etc) you can still use this fan even without having a wall outlet near by.

The base is wide and holds the fan perfectly still. So even with the large blades moving quite fast, it sits still and doesn't vibrate off the tabletop. The motor inside it nice a and quite too, so the fan is easy to sleep next too if you like having a flan blowing on you to help stay cool on these hot summer nights.

This is by far the best tabletop fan I've owned. And with it being so versatile in how it can be powered, you can use it just about anywhere you would need to set up a fan. It works very well and I highly recommend it!

I think this is a perfect little desk fan and keep it on my desk for when it's not super hot to save some energy with the air conditioner. I also do some gardening in my yard and this is good to take with me in the back so i can keep cool in the heat. If you have dogs or even kids that you travel with and need to keep them in the car for a few minutes this is good to have because you can just keep them cool while they wait for you.

The fan provides an adequate amount of air even on low settings. I am the type of person who does not like too much of a strong gust of air in my face so the high setting is pushing it for me but for someone who likes a lot of cool air it would be great. The noise the fan produces on low is minimal but it can be a little loud on high setting. It's bearable in my opinion.

The fan can lock into many different positions. You can angle it to wherever you need air. I thought that was pretty neat compared to desk fans that just sit in one position. I am not a big fan ( fan...get it! :] ) of their locking system. I thought it was a little rough to work with...just be careful because i think you could break it easily by mistake by applying too much force while opening it.

I do enjoy the sleek looking black factor but I really think they should have labeled the settings at the bottom of the power slider button by small depictions or letters.

I think the amount of batteries this thing takes is a little much. D batteries are not cheap mind you. Be prepared to dish out $13 + for a pack of 8. I would highly recommend to use the adapter whenever you can. This means I would not leave the batteries in with the AC adapter plugged in because I am pretty certain it will drain the battery anyway.
