5.0 out of 5 stars A Book for Every Woman's Library

1.0 out of 5 stars From the heart, but little else
Not what I expected. Some of the stories were interesting but much too long. Others were just too long, including the "editor's." I question if this book really had an editor or was it an ego trip--it is mostly a poorly organized jumble of amateurish writing. Too bad because the premise was a good one.

I just finished reading this wonderful, life-affirming book and immediately got online to order four additional copies for friends and relatives. Women of various ages and backgrounds candidly tell their compelling and fascinating life stories. These women who are all very individual have one thing in common: their life experiences have made them stretch and grow. To sum up this book with one word: HOPE, with JOY coming in a close second. This book belongs in every woman's library. Thank you, Jo Ann Brown-Scott!

4.0 out of 5 stars Epiphany and her friends, October 16, 2007
This review is from: Epiphany and Her Friends: Intuitive Realizations That Have Changed Women's Lives (Paperback)
A well written, candid collection of real life, written by women from diverse places and times in their lives.
There is a place for you in these stories. My wife found many chapters that she personally could relate to in this journey through life. Credit must be given to these courageous women for being able to bare their souls and share the turning points in their lives with us in such a loving way.

This is a wonderful collection of women's stories of dramatic growth in their lives written with complete openess and honesty. You may not identify with all their struggles but you will admire their courage and persistance in taking charge of their lives.

As I was given this book as a gift from a friend who also had contributed to the book with her "epiphany", I was naturally looking forward to reading her piece. Upon completion of her personal journey, I then proceded to read the other works. We have all had our own personal epiphanies and hopefully more than one. This book brought about my own reflection. Hopefully, each person who reads this book will also take a reflection journey into their own "ah ha" moments.

Enthralling...eclectic...empowering...a host of adjectives (and even more) is needed to describe the book, Epiphany and Her Friends, by Jo Ann Brown-Scott. Though the book spans 340 pages (22 chapters), it is nicely packaged into readable-length chapters with mini-epiphanies sprinkled throughout. This is most definitely a book to settle in with, as its all female writers will become your best, yet unknown friends.

This is a smart and engaging collection of stories. Each contributor has shared her transforming experiences with humor and tenderness. Reading each woman's story felt like catching up with a old friend. It's a lovely gift to get as well as to give.
