The Perfect Guitar,
By Caris O'Malley "break_so_easily" (Mesa, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar, Ebony (Electronics)
The Black Beauty by Epiphone is the single best sounding guitar I have ever played. I've gone through mounds of Gibsons and Fenders, but have settled on the Black Beauty for the rest of eternity. I'm going to be buried with this guitar. First off, it looks fantastic. The entire thing has a beautiful black finish that is accentuated with gold hardware. Everything is of high quality and it stays in tune after a serious beating. It has not one, not two, but three gold humbucker pickups, each delivering a crushing blow. You can set it at a low tone and get the best bluesy feel, or you can go a little higher and tear the walls down with a death metal tune. You can play ska or reggae, punk and even country. The guitar is that versatile. It is a good sized, heavy, guitar. This is one you can feel when you're playing it and when you strike that first power chord with the volume and distortion cranked, the vibrations resonate through you like an electrocution. It has excellent playability, there are no strange string inclines found on the fret board like other guitars I've played. The only, and only, problem with this guitar is the strange G-string, but I have seen it on EVERY Epiphone I've ever played. Billie Joe from Green Day even commented on that in regards to the Les Paul Juniors. But you can only hear the faulty string when the guitar isn't plugged into an amp. Once the guitar is plugged in it sounds like heaven. Don't waste your money on more expensive guitars. This is THE guitar to have.

Amazing Looks and Playability,
By Seth - The GR Review (Grand Rapids, MI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 Electric Guitar, Ebony (Electronics)
I bought this guitar 8 years ago as my first electric. In my opinion, Epiphone really is the way to go if you're looking for an affordable Les Paul. There is basically no difference between an Epiphone and a Gibson which is at least 3 times more expensive.
What I love the most about this guitar is the great playability. It has very low action and is easy to adjust if it isn't to your liking. This guitar also looks very expensive. I'll admit, $700 is a decent investment, but you can buy Fenders for twice as much that aren't nearly as good-looking, good-sounding, and easy to play as this guitar. The only con I've noticed is that this isn't the best guitar for recording music (if you're into that sort of thing). It doesn't have the cleanest and brightest sound you can get. Also, the middle pickup takes some getting used to since it is in the general area of where most people do their picking. I would recommend this guitar to just about anyone. It is great for any kind of live performances, it's really easy to play, and it looks amazing. For the price that it's offered at (I got mine for $669), you cannot go wrong with this one.

This is such a dream guitar, comparable to the Gibson equivalent, at a much smaller price. Tight clean notes, great action, beautiful construction. I use with my little Line 6 Spider III 15 amplifier, sounds fantastic! Being a guitar hobbyist(that's right, I can't shred), this one is probably a little out of my league, but the overall beauty and meticulous craftsmanship make it a must have.

I played in a cover band for many years, before I started writing my own music, so I needed a guitar that had the versatility to switch from Heavy Metal to Blues and back to Alternative Rock with a twist of Electronica. The Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty was perfect for this need. The three pick ups make it versatile enough to play anything you want and it still sounds amazing. Its made in Gibson's Epiphone Factory in Quindao, China, but don't let this put you off, the craftmanship to top notch and is head and shoulders above guitars in the same price range built in America. Probably because the expansive work force in China under the training and direction of American master guitarists allows Epiphone to devote more time to making the best guitars possible. I highly recommend this guitar to everyone from beginners to advanced players. It looks even better in real life and sounds twice as good as it looks.

I absolutly love this guitar, It came straight from the factory in China and there are absolutly no flaws in the finish or construction of this guitar. The tuners are nice and tight, stays in tune very well, has great tone and is easy to play. Now this guitar weighs alot but thats what you get with a Les Paul. The action was a little high for my tastes but was very easy to adjust. I immediatly broke the high E string when tuning the first time so I changed out the strings to a set of Slinkys. I got a real good deal on this guitar here at Amazon. The price on the internet and at stores ran from $900.00 to $750.00 without the case, I got it here for $441.00 with the case included. This guitar is fantastic and I am very pleased with my purchase through Amazon!

Been looking for a new guitar for a while. I have a Fender American Strat and a Gretsch 6120, and was looking for a Gibson Custom. I played both Gibby and Epiphone at the Guitar Center and found few major differences between the two. The price is excellent ($562) and I am enjoying the heck out of this guitar.

The guitar I ordered was not the guitar that showed up.When I asked about that detail I was told there were two guitars and the one that was sent to me was the better looking of the two according to the person I bought it from, which was not my opinion. The one that I was sent arrived broken. It was in a hard shell case and it was packed both in side the case and out and the box showed no signs at all of any damages but the 3 way toggle switch was broken so badly that the pick-ups would not work at all. The guitar was cheaply made and was not what it should have been since the price was lower than the other sellers I thought I was getting a good deal. What I got was a big mess. The guitar had the worst set up and I was told they had set it up and it was supposed to be ready to play. That was a fabrication since the guitar was not playable. You could not play it had the pick-up worked. The strings were miss matched and it was not set up in good intonation at all. This guitar was a bad disappointment.I believe you should get what you order and not a bate and switch. I order on Amazon.com a lot and this is the first time I have had to deal with a situation like this. There are other guitars here at Amazon.com that are far better quality and cost less. I would suggest looking at the Michael Kelly guitars. They are very well made guitars that come from Korea but they are far better than any Epi I have ever played. I purchased the Patriot Glory Michael Kelly guitar and it has very good pups and they are coil tap so you are able to get 6 different sounds. I put the kind of strings I like(10's D Addario's). I then set the intonation and the action and I tweaked the neck to what I like and this thing plays like butter. Do your self a favor and check out Amazon.com for the Michael Kelly guitars. You will save time and money. Watch out for the bate and switch. If it is too good to be true chances are it is. I did get the strobe tuner and my strings and a lot of other things here on Amazon.com. Get as much as you can right from them and not the third party buys. That seems to be where it gets tricky. There are some great ones out there but really check into them before going off the deep end. I had to get all my money back from this purchase and I then went another way and ended up getting the Michael Kelly guitar and I love the Michael Kelly guitar and I am happy with the way it all turned out.
