Prior to purchasing this I did go to local stores and tried this and other entry level guitars. With no experience what so ever on guitar I had a vague idea of what I cared about. It had to fit, it had to sound good to me, and I had to like the look. In the end the DR-100 won out. I have owned it about a week at this point, I can play 2 chords correctly and 4 others correctly if I am extremely slow, and I know that I went the right direction.

This guitar works for someone learning. It does stay in tune without major issues. Even having to re-tune each day takes very little adjustment. You WILL want to buy strings and swap them out. I could hear the issues more experienced players were pointing out and a $5 set of medium strings made that disappear immediately. I do think that the strings are a bit higher than a couple others I tried, but my feeling after a week of playing it is that this forces me to be careful and make sure where I am positioning my fingers (more importantly my hand/thumb).

From listening to a more experienced friend play it I will buy another one if I am still playing in a year. At that point I will spend more and get a better quality instrument. For now the investment to learn is relatively small and I think I could recoup about 50% of it if I don't continue to play long term.

The Guitar looks great and holds the tune very good! Im actually a beginner and don't know much about guitars, but i've had several friends tell me that the guitar is great and i take their word for it! Very pleased with the Guitar and it's sound is great, so i was told!

Bought this guitar for my daughter as she was showing interest in learning how to play. When it arrived I was impressed by the quality of construction and the over-all attention to manufacturing detail. She was impressed by the sound and although I also purchased a set of 'easy' strings as she calls them, they were not needed as the strings that came attached were flexible enough not to cause finger pain.

I had searched for quite some time to get a guitar for her and I have to admit I was tempted by a few which were cheaper but poor reviews here on Amazon swayed me the other way. I am very satisfied with this purchase because my daughter is satisfied and I would recommend this instrument to anyone looking for a beginners guitar.

I bought this guitar about a month ago. It has been one of the best purchases from Amazon that I've done! Those of you that are skeptical about buying the guitar you should have no worries. This is a fantastic guitar for a beginner. I wanted something cheap to learn how to play so I bought this guitar. Well the guitar is awesome and that's and understatement! The strings are the only thing BAD about the guitar which isn't a big problem. I highly recommend buying some Ernie Ball Earthwood Medium Light strings which are about $5 bucks on Amazon. It'll really pay off buying news strings because it'll make your guitar from sounding like a $100 guitar to a $400 guitar. Highly recommend the guitar! Rock on!

This is a great guitar. I'm not a beginner; just on a very tight budget. I've played many more expensive acoustics than this one, and this beats some of them. If you're a beginner and/or on a tight budget, GET THIS GUITAR. It sounds great, holds it's tuning, and has a beautiful finish. This is a steal for only $99.

I have owned other electric guitars but am still a beginner so my input is limited the physical quality of this model guitar. I tend to go overboard when buying things and like to stick to the higher end products. But from all my web searching this seemed to be a good guitar for beginners for a cheap price.

It came in a well packed box with plenty of foam padding wrapped around the guitar. Unpackaging this guitar i was so excited the sunburst looked amazing and glossy. After close inspection i found a few flaws. But keep in mind these are not hand made like gibsons. These are machine made in china and hand inspected.

First thing i noticed were the strings. There was a fair amount of rust on the strings in some spots and the low E string actually had the winding gouged off in one spot.

Second was the paint on the top of the body had some imperfections around the sound hole. Things like the black paint didnt have perfect coverage on the inner lip of the hole.

Third was the edging around the back had a spot where it didnt have enought acrylic coating like something had touched it while it was wet.

Fourth was there was excess glue on the nut and it didnt fit perfectly flush to the fingerboard.

As said i cant really comment to in depth on the sound or how it plays since i am still a beginner. But to me it sounds good. Nice bright tone to it and stays in tune pretty well.

With all that said after changing the strings i love the guitar. I told myself i was not going to go overboard on another guitar to try and learn on. All things considered even with its few imperfections it is a great guitar and Epiphone is a name brand(china made gibson). But to be able to buy a name brand musical instrument for 100 dollars to learn on is amazing. I would not think twice to buy this guitar again if i had to.

This guitar is a perfect guitar for someone that does not have much for a budget but you still get a good sounding guitar right out of the box. The strings are not the best but they make due for a good couple months. I put a set of elixer custom lights on it and it sounds just as good as my buddies martin. It has suprised alot of people the quality of sound it has for the price. Another nice thing about it is it's a good mess around guitar, you dont have to worry too much about it getting scratched up and knocked around abit. I is an awesome buy and from what I remember it got to its destination before the expected delivery date. Would definatly buy another one if this one ever got wrecked.

Could not be happier with this purchase. After looking locally for a used one I decided to purchase new. This is the second guitar for a beginner and we could not be happier with the quality and tone for this price. I ordered on Christmas morning and received it that week. Very happy and would recommend it to anyone.

Started learning guitar. I do not know much about guitars but showed it to my uncle who is giving me the guitar lessons and has been playing for over 35 years and he said it was a great guitar. The sound is great and I love the way it looks . Great starter guitar and can not beat the price .
