My title is such because when Amazon shipped the guitar, I was sent the Cherry Sunburst model when I had ordered the Ebony! Amazon got me taken care of almost immediately, so I'm really happy about that.In any event, the guitar is a GREAT value for the money. It has great tone and sustain, the neck is fast and wide making it easier to play, especially if you have big hands. I had a Squier Strat Standard at one time and it does not even come close to this guitar (or the Epiphone SG-310 I had prior to the LP-100) in quality OR sound. There's just NO comparison. Speaking of the SG-310, I actually think it sounds a bit better than the LP-100, however, both are very versatile and can play just about any music. Quality and construction are excellent. This is NOT a "beginner" guitar. You can perform live with it and I think it will hold up fine for YEARS! I miss my SG and will most likely pickup another one very soon, but I don't regret getting another LP (I had one for over 20 years). This truly is an excellent guitar for such a little price. I've been playing since about '72 and it's easily (along with the SG) one of the best guitars I've owned. You really do get Gibson sound without the Gibson price tag. There are higher-level LP's (and SG's) with the neck thru bodies (the LP-100 and SG-310 have bolt on necks) and I may "move up" someday, but I have no complaints at all with this guitar. Didn't have any with the SG either. Oh, yeah, higher-end models use different/better wood. Just don't think this guitar is the "cheap stuff"...you would be very wrong if you did. I give it 4 stars because I think the SG-310 beats it in the sound/sustain department...but JUST barely. There's a reason the LP has been a music staple for DECADES and this model carries on that tradition. All in all, the LP-100 was a VERY wise choice for me.

Solid Guitar,

A guitar for the ages. I used to play guitar over 8 years ago and for some reason, stopped playing and moved on to other things. Just recently, my friend bought a Gibson SG and it was pretty sharp looking. Although, my favorite guitar has always been the les paul. But alot of the gibsons are very expensive until now. At 300$, this is a steal. Everything I expected from Epiphone making a truely genuine les paul. The sound is great, the headstock has a nice bolt on neck look, the ebony finish looks as if it just came out of the shop that day, cool looking volume knobs and the chrome plate finishes. The only thing I would say is the strings will need to be replaced. Mine are a little worn, probably thats what they give you to start but no big deal. Stays in tune all the time and plays very easilly. Definetly would recommend it to any guitarist more or less and expert player but could be for begginers to. 5 stars!

I am a self taught beginner to intermediate guitar player, and always wanted a Les Paul but could never justify the expensive purchase of a Gibson given my skill level. Then I found this gem, and let me tell you that for beginners and intermediate players it is great! It looks absolutely stunning and plays very well.If you have a decent amplifier, you can truly judge the guitar, and I tell you I couldn't be happier with this purchase. And for $299...what a steal! It looks so similar to a Gibson LP; the shape and markings. I think that the lighter weight is a plus. If your skills outrun the stock pick-ups, you can upgrade and still enjoy this guitar for years to come. Also, I would like to comment about the packaging, as I had it shipped from Amazon to New York, and then forwarded to the Middle East. It travelled halfway across the globe and arrived with no damage which is very important when dealing with a sensitive instrument. Great job Epiphone, and great job Amazon!

Best Guitar In The Price Range,

If you want the sound of this guitar's big brother(Gibson LP)this delivers. It has all the same hardware but is a two piece. That is where you end up getting a little less of the big sound. Some cons I read before I bought this was that you get poor sound on some strings but I found it plays more like an accoustic as you NEED TO HIT THE STRINGS CLEANER to eliminate that problem. I has two firends use this and both couldn't believe the sound. One was so impressed he borrowed my laptop and ordered his own. I shopped almost two months before I bought this axe and was a little leary about what to expect for the price but this has delivered everything and more. I would not only recomend this but I would buy it again in a minute. NOTHING TOUCHES THIS IN THIS PRICE RANGE!

I play, but I bought this for my son to use. It arrived quickly and was stunningly beautiful when I pulled it out of the box. It sounded awesome to my clumsy playing; I felt like I was a 3x better player just from using this guitar. When my son got it, he loved it, but later on the first day he was admiring it when he noticed a crack on the back of the neck. I decided not to keep it, and called Gibson. They said they would replace it, but I would have to send it back at MY cost. Since this guitar weighs 20 pounds when boxed, I knew it would be expensive. I could understand Gibson policy if this was a warranty repair after a few months of use, but an obvious manufacturing defect THE FIRST DAY I OWNED IT was just an insane policy, so I declined. I set up a return with Amazon, and they responded immediately and got me another one (without the crack) two days later. I was extremely happy with Amazon who truly knows how to take care of their customers. Are you listening, GIBSON? Anyway, this is a GREAT guitar at a GREAT price. My son plays it every day and I love hearing the sound of it coming from his room.

I purchased this guitar about a month ago and fell in love with it! It looks great! It got here in 5 days, so its very fast service. When i plugged it into my amp, i was very pleased. The sound these pickups produce is very nice! Having said those things, i have played on a Les Paul Standard and a Les Paul Custom(hirer end les paul designs) and they are build with much hirer quality materials and have better pickups. BUT, the Les Paul 100 is still the best guitar for its price i have ever played on! If you have a budget and want a high quality guitar, buy an Epiphone Les Paul 100!

I ordered this guitar from Musicians Friend and received it at my APO address in Kuwait in less than a week. I had always dreamed of owning a Les Paul but just can't justify buying the high end Gibson because of my limited skills. At $250, this guitar is just what the doctor ordered. Fit and finish are spectacular, like you would expect to pay much more for. The first thing I did after unboxing was to remove the stock strings and string it with Ernie Ball "Beefy Slinky". This axe has great tone and really good sustain. With the "Rythm" pick-up selected, the tone can be a bit muddy, but a quick tweek on the amp fixes that. I wailed on this thing for a couple of hours last nite and it barely needed retuning at the end and this was probably only because the strings are new. I love this guitar and once my chops are up to the level I want, I may not even upgrade to the Gibson. Nice job Epiphone!

Only had this a couple of days, so still getting acquainted with her. So far I think this will be long love affair, until I can afford a Gibson. I have the ebony, and the finish is beautiful. The sound is wonderful as well. The neck plays like a dream, who cares if it's bolted on? The strings are easy to bar, no fret buzz when open strings are played. The price is right. Time will tell of the longevity factor.Just got the perfect amp, a Fender Mustang I. This amp would make a mere novice into a rock star. Especially when paired with this axe. I can't imagine all the things that the amp does, for 99 bucks. Buy it, you'll love it. Update, had the guitar a few months now, and the input jack just fell into the guitar body. Went to the repair shop to get it fixed, now it doesn't play at all, bummer. Looks like another trip to the repair shop, not really happy with this, plays like a dream when it plays. I hope it's covered by warranty. Again, took it to the repair shop, they put loctite on it. Got home and jammed for 2 hours, went to unplug and the input jack came loose again. I've owned many guitars in my time, from good to cheap, but never had I had any trouble with an input jack, like this. I'm at my wits end, I wonder if all LP 100's have this problem, or did I just get a lemon.

I have been playing guitar since I was 6 years old (over 3 decades) and I must say this was a very pleasant surprise. I haven't had an electric in years, and didn't have the budget to get a Gibson, so picked up this Epi Les Paul 100 instead, along with a Fender Mustang I Amp. Great combination. This guitar has a very sloid feel, and came set-up perfectly right out of the box. All it needed was tuning. Unlike others, I didn't feel that the strings I got needed to be changed right away, but probably within the first two weeks you will want to change them. Replaced mine with Ernie Ball "Not Even Slinky's" and couldn't be happier with the way this thing plays and sounds. Great sustain, beautiful harmonics, the clean tones are warm, can get nice blues tones out of it, and superb thrash metal too. Very versatile. It does not quiet do country or jazz, but it wasn't really meant to.The action is extremely easy, fret board has a great feel to it, good width on the neck, not too slinder but not too thick. It just feels good in your hands. The finish on this product is very nice. One thing though, the pick guard is kind of a tan / cream off white color, not bright white as pictured, but it still looks great. Also, not mentioned in the description, but this does come with a 12 foot cord, but it's not the best quality. Would recommend picking up a new one when you order. Overall, this is well worth the $500 that they list as the MSRP. At less than half that its a steal. If you are considering this instrument, don't hesitate.
