Product Description

Legendary bassist with the Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule designed this bass to embody the spirit of some of his favorite instruments from the 1960's. Allen combined a short 30" scale for playing comfort with two mini bass Humbuckers at the neck and middle positions to give it that "signature" Woody rumbling, warm tone. The chambered Mahogany body features a 5-ply Maple top and a set, Mahogany neck with Rosewood fretboard for rich bass tone and thunderous sustain, Gold hardware, including a fully-adjustable 3-point bridge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great short-scale bass!, December 1, 2009
This review is from: Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat Limited Edition Electric Bass Guitar (Electronics)
Recent Epiphone guitars have been of very high quality and the Allen Woody Bass is no exception. For those bassists who like a Gibson feel, this one rings true. It plays like an old EB-3 and sounds wonderful, getting a rather wide tonal range from the two pickups. Gibson meets Hofner!

This bass far exceeded my expectations. Plugged in or just plain acoustically, it sings. Ran through my Beringer system, it flat shakes the pictures in my practice room. Mr. Woody left us way too soon, and his love for vintage instruments served him well.

Allen, your spirit lives on and I thank God for the music you gave to us, and I thank God that you took the time while short on this earth, to get with the fine folks at Epiphone and have this bass built.

Jam on my friend, as you were one of the true greats.
