4.0 out of 5 stars les paul bass by epiphone
First off, I'm a teenager and I primarily play rock guitar. I'm using my mom's amazon account to comment on this item. I got this bass to fool around with. I first noticed that all the strings on all but 1 frets sounded amazing. The low notes were epic, as were the mid and high notes. the first fret on the A string was nearly inaudible for string buzz. the first fret...

3.0 out of 5 stars upgrade potential
It plays great, which is why I'm seriously looking for a pickup upgrade. The 442R alnico humbucker pickups sound pretty bad at high volumes.

4.0 out of 5 stars les paul bass by epiphone, December 4, 2010
This review is from: Epiphone Les Paul Special Electric Bass Guitar, Black Satin (Electronics)
First off, I'm a teenager and I primarily play rock guitar. I'm using my mom's amazon account to comment on this item. I got this bass to fool around with. I first noticed that all the strings on all but 1 frets sounded amazing. The low notes were epic, as were the mid and high notes. the first fret on the A string was nearly inaudible for string buzz. the first fret on the E string was also buzzing a bunch. I don't know much about basses, but i like mine despite the buzz and i would recommend this to any guitarist who wants to fool around with bass. but for more serious bassists, I'd say a Fender P-Bass would be much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weight and Lack of Balance Blows the Deal, May 1, 2011
This review is from: Epiphone Les Paul Special Electric Bass Guitar, Black Satin (Electronics)
Although this bass looks good and although I love the sounds it can produce, I rejected it as a possible bass for me because it is so heavy and unbalanced. While testing one, I found myself spending too much time trying to keep it in a comfortable position for me to play it. When I'm playing, I want to focus on the groove, on hitting the difficult notes perfectly, laying down the riffs, not keeping my instrument in balance and not having to adjust the neck strap because it's cutting off the circulation in my neck. At a lower price, I might overlook these issues, but if I did I would more than likely regret it.
