Angled Headstock
Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets.
Alnico V Humbucker pickups and the industry-standard Tune-O-Matic bridge. |
Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays. |
Double-Waxed Pickups
Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures optimum performance. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is put in place to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax.
Output Jack
To increase reliability and ensure consistent performance, Epiphone's proprietary output jacks feature an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel.
Toggle Switches
All Epiphones feature our all-metal, USA designed switches for reliable contact and longer life.
Tunomatic Bridge
Fully adjustable, the tunomatic remains a classic after over 50 years. Unlike guitars fitted with tremolos, there are no tuning or re-stringing difficulties. Plus, tone and sustain are improved because all string vibrations are transferred directly to the guitar.
Potentiometers
Epiphone is passionate about performance. That's why their instruments use one-inch diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service.
Quick-Connectors
For unequalled reliability as well as ease of service, Epiphone wiring harnesses feature quick-connectors.

I got this from musicians friend company, for the price this guitar is perfect for practiceing. Also very well made. the pickups are as strong as a old stock real les paul. Its bolt on but has alot of sustain. Also great tone. The body is heavy but not too heavy. nice paint job, also well made neck. It is a very solid guitar. your no going to find abetter guitar for the price. Its that well made. it also stays in tune and no fret buzz. for the price its a winner. also great for practicing, no complaints. It holds its own. a better guitar than some costing much more. In fact this guitar could sell in the 400 dollar range, its that well made. Also with sound, that is awesome, very resonant, great sustain.

As good as you'll find for under $300,
This review is from: Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Electric Guitar, Wine Red (Electronics)
Ive been playing guitar for about 5 years now, i started off acoustic and i like acoustic sound better, but im starting to migrate toward electric because its easier to play. I play mostly classic rock, zeppelin, stones, floyd, and alot of these artists used les paul guitars. I wanted to sound as close to them as possible for as cheap as possible. I bought this guitar and a digital amp and im very happy with both. This guitar has a much more genuine feel and is much more natural to play than similarly priced guitars. When you upgrade you'll feel like you're in an RPG and this guitar gave you +8 rockability, +11 style, and +14 leadership. You'll just feel like you suddenly got better because of the better equipment. To me, this guitar is worth about 220. However, I do get the feeling that this is the type of product where each guitar varies in quality off the production line, so there is a bit of 'luck of the draw' involved.

Definitely worth the $$$,

Let's face it---instruments are expensive! An American made Les Paul is not for the budget conscious amateur!
This Indonesian made Epiphone holds it's own and the price is about as reasonable as you are going to get for a decent electric guitar.
