Ive been playing guitar for about 5 years now, i started off acoustic and i like acoustic sound better, but im starting to migrate toward electric because its easier to play. I play mostly classic rock, zeppelin, stones, floyd, and alot of these artists used les paul guitars. I wanted to sound as close to them as possible for as cheap as possible. I bought this guitar and a digital amp and im very happy with both. This guitar has a much more genuine feel and is much more natural to play than similarly priced guitars. When you upgrade you'll feel like you're in an RPG and this guitar gave you +8 rockability, +11 style, and +14 leadership. You'll just feel like you suddenly got better because of the better equipment. To me, this guitar is worth about 220. However, I do get the feeling that this is the type of product where each guitar varies in quality off the production line, so there is a bit of 'luck of the draw' involved.

Let's face it---instruments are expensive! An American made Les Paul is not for the budget conscious amateur!
This Indonesian made Epiphone holds it's own and the price is about as reasonable as you are going to get for a decent electric guitar.

I love this guitar. As a beginner it's been great and encouraging. I've had other, 'cheap' starter guitars before that have issues like fret buzz, tuning issues or cosmetic issues. The Special II has none of those issues. Ready to play out of the box so there is nothing additional to frustrate the beginning guitarist (other than his own burgeoning skill).

my only disappointment was the I ordered the Wine Red version and it looks nothing like the picture advertised. Red Wind is actually a deep purplish color. Still a beautiful color but I was looking for the nice popping Red color. (I think that color is actually Candy Apple if you search of it). That said, if you are looking in the Wine Red color, it may not be as you see on the webpage.

This guitar is great, cheap but for 200 dollars not bad. Its a great guitar to start off with. The red really pops and the sound thru the amp isnt that bad either, im pretty impressed

If you are looking at this guitar, then it is the guitar for you. I recently "upgraded" to this guitar from a Silvertone beginner's strat and I am so glad that I did. That real Les Paul look and feel for $150? And the sound is just incredible - I can get beefy rhythms and twangy or gritty leads on a cheap amp without any pedals or amp effects. She has a much more solid feel than other budget guitars I have played, and her looks are much cleaner and more classic. In short, whether you are starting out or a seasoned player looking for a kickaround guitar, this is an ideal instrument that can't be beat for the price.

I was on a trip when this arrived, after 3 weeks of having it, i finally decided to tune it. When i was trying to tune the 6th cord, the NUT broke!!!!!, now i know why these guitars where so cheap! i'm very very dissapointed. I couldn't even return it since it passed almost 4 weeks.

Estaba de viaje cuando llego, despues de 3 semanas de tenerla guardada, por fin me decidí a afinarla. Cuando estaba afinando la sexta cuerda, el hueso se rompio!, no podía creerlo, ahora se por que estaban tan tan baratas. Estoy muy decepcionado de este producto. Ni siquiera pude regresarla pues ya habían pasado casi 4 semanas.
