In 1776, a nation fights for freedom - but not for all. Kunta Kinte escapes again and is crippled by slave catchers. He marries, gains a daughter and loses his long-time friend Fiddler. Another chance for escape arises, but Kunta sacrifices it to care for his wife and the newborn he names Kizzy, an African word for "stay put."

I ordered this to show my African American History Classes. Beyond being a great educational film, it is an amazing movie. I recommend that every American watch this series once in their lifetime.

When I realized that this movie had a huge impact on me as a kid and realized I was 11 when I saw it I decided my kids should experience it. Riveting, heartbreaking history that we must all try and understand. I wish it was shown in every US History class.
