I ordered this to show my African American History Classes. Beyond being a great educational film, it is an amazing movie. I recommend that every American watch this series once in their lifetime.

When I realized that this movie had a huge impact on me as a kid and realized I was 11 when I saw it I decided my kids should experience it. Riveting, heartbreaking history that we must all try and understand. I wish it was shown in every US History class.

I watched this series as a child and thought it was good thing. However, a lot of things I watched as a child didn't translate into quality programming as an adult. This was the exception. The story telling was excellent, the acting was excellent and the production was all around solid. I enjoyed this from start to finish and will watch the follow up seasons.

the most real journey in America and a ugly chapter that needs to be told, and told again. the ignorance that goes for entertainment these days when it seems hard to digest a subject that forever changed lives and needs a reminder. this is the greatest series i have ever seen and most painful. RIP to Alex Hailey. his incredible mind inspired myself to look up my own ancestors and history. this was the turning point then and now. a must see and view over, over and over again and continue to ask questions and understanding the realitys of then and now.

When this book was first published, I devoured it. Listening toit on Audible, brought all the characters to life in such a way that I felt I was there each step of Alex Haley's ancestors journey from Gambia and back again. I felt the pain and joy of each generation as the story was told again and again of Kunte Kinte. I highly recommend this.

This series really gave me a sense of appreciation
for the priviliges of today's past. The actors did
a great job showing the realistic images of slavery
and the travels from Africa to America.

I recommend this series for kids over 12 to understand
that cultural diversity was forced not necessarily
voluntary.

A very compelling truth brought to the full screen. I'm grateful the good work was done to make this film. All of the actors were pretty shattered with the roles they played depicting how evil man can be. The triumph at the end was awesome. Ben Vereen especially is beloved in this film.
