The Immortal Yi Soon Shin is the BEST drama I have seen ever. Korean, American, doesn't matter! This is better than anything I have ever seen on TV or in the movies. Hollywood cannot touch this one! Kim Myoung Min(Yi Soon Shin) is outstanding in this!(no wonder he won the 2005 KBS BEST ACTOR AWARD FOR IYSS)It starts from when he was a child to his adulthood and can be emotional, funny, sad, and can make you angry!! The numerous obstacles and prejudices this man had to overcome and then always bounced back with no complaint because of the love of his country is phenomenal!! He put his country above all else and Kim Myoung Min did a great job of portraying that!
My whole family, kids and all, watched this with me and loved it!
I can see why Yi Soon Shin is Korea's hero and why other countries teach his methods!

I cannot improve on what has been already been shared. Each of us who gave this a 5-star rating are obviously a cut above those who rave about Hollywood movies. The storyline, casting, cinematography, music ... everything makes this the best ever drama - - - better than anything Hollywood has or will produce.

Years and years ago kids would attend weekly movies at their local movie house. As I watched this I thought how wonderful it would be for young people to watch this in one-week installments on a huge screen. It will never happen, but it's nice to imagine such a routine. I recently purchased 2 VOL of IYSS. Lots of cuts, but character and storyline remains intact.

Our 21st Century politicians would do well to take a course in IYSS 101. YiSoonShin always did what was best and right for his main love of country - and oftentimes to the peril of his own being.

I love reading about great people of great mind or great character.
Great mind and great character are not always found in the same person.
But Yi Soon Shin is an example of both.
His achievement in battle is absolutely worthy of super hero status.
But his character and integrity is even more amazing if you go read about his life. [...]
Most of my hero's like Gauss, Tesla, Von Neumann are about great minds more so than great character.
But I am more moved by this man's spirit and integrity than famous religious figures.
Anyways, I can't wait to read the upcoming issues and am now motivated to catch the dvd series of this hero.

With two little kids, a full time job and a house that needs work, I have no time to watch TV or do much of anything else --- but I have been sucked in by this story of Yi Soon Shin as shown late every Saturday and Sunday night on Korean TV here in Philadelphia. His story is phenomenal and inspiring. It is also the story of the amazing people who fought with him, of companionship, of mentorhip on a grand scale, and of purity of vision. If you need something after a week of drifting along through work and the daily grind that will reset your bearings, you must watch this.
