4. Episode 4 TV-MA CC

The civil servants at DoSAC are preparing for a visit from the shadow minister Peter Mannion. For Mannion and his team, this informal pre-election briefing is a good opportunity. For Nicola Murray, it is just another distraction on a day when nothing seems to be going right. All she wants to do is get Glenn and Olly to kick-start the Fourth Sector Pathfinder Initiative. And then she gets a call.

This series is light years ahead of anything on mainstream American TV. Brilliantly written and acted this fast paced political satire follows the Minister and civil servants employed at the Dept Of Social Affairs through a seemingly endless set of crises. They are egged on, cajoled and verbally abused incessantly by the Prime Minister's enforcer Malcolm Tucker, played by the amazing Peter Capaldi, Capaldi is without a doubt the star of this program and his endless supply of creative swearwords and insults is about the most entertaining thing I've seen in a TV program in a very long time. The scripts are very quickly paced and the dialogue is so witty and fast that you can watch these episodes again and again and hear something you may have missed or not focused on before. While Capaldi's Malcolm steals every scene he's in , the rest of the cast does very well even when he is off screen. The Ministers and staff change a bit from season 2 to 3 adding some new talent to the ensemble. This has recently become my favorite show. There are few if any weaknesses. Outstanding stuff but for full effect watch from the beginning and in sequence..

I bought this series to preview the new Dr. Who in a tv role. Malcolm Tucker is fantastic. I could watch him abuse his peers all day, every day. I've learned so many new curse combinations I'd need 2 lifetimes to use them all. Great show, wish there were more than 4 seasons.

Then watch the movie "In the Loop".

This stuff is scabrously funny, literate, witty and thoroughly engaging.

It's an amazingly entertaining body of work.

The Thick of It is the best political satire ever. Armando Iannucci, better-known to Americans for his HBO series Veep, hit his stride early and often with The Thick of It. Season 3 doesn't have Jamie, the even more profane Scot, but Peter Capaldi's Malcolm can fill the gap easily by himself. Although every episode is outstanding, the last two are some of the best writing and acting TV has seen.

Warning to the easily-offended. They curse. A lot. Like, A LOT. But in exciting and creative ways.

Profanity is a major vehicle for this series' humor. Nonetheless, if that doesn't offend you, it's quite a ride. The one-liners and insults come so fast it is almost exhausting. Also, have google nearby because many of the references are a bit arcane and illusive. Worth it though - very funny.

A different angle on politics. Rather more like Karl Rove after 2008. Or at least what I would like to think would be that way.

The entire series is a winner! With Peter Capaldi starring as Malcolm Tucker a strong outstanding cast is required and in true British form, they have an outstanding cast!
