4.0 out of 5 stars Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber
I have to agree with the review below, whoever came up with the idea of putting in a vibrating motor at Hasbro should be fired. Not only is the vibrating stupid (duh it vibrates just by striking something), but it makes this loud awful sound. Kind of like a vibrating cell phone. However, I found a simple solution. If you carefully unscrew all of the screws, beginning with...

2.0 out of 5 stars why does it have to vibrate?
what is the point of makeing a toy that vibrates when it strikes something? its already going to vibrate on its own because it hit something. the previous sound effects lightsabers took two D batteries. this one used three AA's which saves space, which was filled with a motor to make it vibrate. if you took out the motor and moved the lamp down right next to the...

If you carefully unscrew all of the screws, beginning with the battery cover, and carefully pry open the two sides you can see the motor. Try and locate the red and black wires connecting to the motor and cut one of them. Make sure to either cut a section out or move the severed ends away so they don't rub and still complete the circuit. Voila no more annoying vibration, but still the sound and light. I understand some work is involved, however it's worth it. Maybe Hasbro will come out with a new one without the motor. I wouldn't be surprised if they've received tons of complaints.
I bought this one and my brother bought the Anakin lightsaber. Why? because someone has to be Obi-Wan. May the force be with you.

This toy is very fun.I had to work for a month to buy it.I had the same noise problem with the light saber also but I found out that this thing eats up batteries so use energizer E-2.Okay now for the pros and cons.
Pros.
1.Lights up very bright.
2.Realistic feel.
3.Cool noises.
4.Makes you feel like Obi-Wan.
Cons
1.Eats up batteries.
Thats the only con.So this is a good product.Review by Trey.

the hilt of this lightsaber is my favorite feature. I love the feeling of it and i think it makes it easy to duel and do cool tricks! the worst thing about this lightsaber is the vibration.

Okay. Well, I recently purchased this lightsaber and am very pleased. I am a die hard Obi-Wan fan and this is probably my favorite of all.(Considering they do not make an Obi-Wan Force FX). It has a good light that won't fade, and is awesome in a dark room. The sound-effects are fairly loud, and the lights flash for start up/turn off. Two complaints: The saber does not fully retract into the hilt. This is okay, because it means that the hilt can be skinny, and well detailed, as it should be. Second, The battle clash comes with a loud buzz and rumble effect through the hilt. This is the "special effect" that comes with all the ROTS sabers, however it is different for each model. This buzz-rumble is very annoying when dueling. Still, this saber is well worth the money, and remember this: Anakin once said 'Obi-Wan is as wise as Yoda, and as powerful as Mater Windu!' May the force be with you all.

what is the point of makeing a toy that vibrates when it strikes something? its already going to vibrate on its own because it hit something. the previous sound effects lightsabers took two D batteries. this one used three AA's which saves space, which was filled with a motor to make it vibrate. if you took out the motor and moved the lamp down right next to the speaker it would only take up about 1/3 of the hilt. you could then shorten the blade about 2 inches and make a lightsaber with a %100 retractable blade. great amount of detail though for a $20 childrens toy.

This is a great lightsaber, after i did this

Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber, June 5, 2005

However, I found a simple solution. If you carefully unscrew all of the screws, beginning with the battery cover, and carefully pry open the two sides you can see the motor. Than it was sooooo fun to play with its skinny and easy to handle, but the fact that the lightsaber part doesnt go in all the way is weird but that made it much skinnyer the other lightsaber's are huge compared to this one, and it only makes one sound effect when you hit something that gets annoying but overall its great!!!

The Obi-Wan lightsaber has many great features. It is a very vibrant blue color, the handle is designed very well, and the force vibration is cool- for the first couple of days. Really, the force vibration does get annoying after awhile- they should have a switch to turn it on/off. This lightsaber isn't quite as durable as the others- I had to return mine. Overall, I give this toy 4 stars!

I got this toy a couple of days ago, and when it came I opened it up and put some batteries in. When I turned it on, I was truefully amazed with the lighting. It was SO much better than that crappy darth vader saber I bought at some junk shop. there is one problem, that the battle clash sounds can't be heard over the loud vibrating noise (AKA "Feel the Force!")
