Book Description

Mandy Blackwood is a product of a strict upbringing in the Eudora Southern Baptist Church. A church steeped in taboos against almost everything, but especially against homosexuality. She has been brought up to make her mother proud – marry, have children, and bring no shame on the family.

She marries Scott, the son of a Southern Baptist minister who is the choir director of his dad’s church; Mandy is the director of the Young People’s Department. The church is full of nosy old busy bodies. It is impossible to do anything outside the ordinary without the pack of gossipy old vultures tearing you to pieces. Mandy and Scott, unable to have children, adopt a baby boy and are seemingly happy.

However, Mandy unexpectedly encounters her true destiny, a graduate student and also a member of her church, Kathleen Crutchfield. Kathleen brazenly makes a pass at Mandy forever changing her life. Feeling new, deliciously different emotions, Mandy, struggles with the implications of what has happened.

Knowing that her life will never be the same, Mandy tries to see if there were clues in her life that should have alerted her to her hidden forbidden identity.

Kathleen captures Mandy’s heart and rules her body with a passion she has never known before. They are made only for each other. They know they must find a way to be together, but how will they get the courage to escape Mandy’s marriage, the church, and Kathleen’s powerful family?

This lesbian fiction series is electrifying from start to finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relatable March 11, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition
This book is graphic and realistic. It may not titalize you with lurid sexual stories but if you have been in her position you can relate.

I have to say that though I found some of the wordiness here and the overenthusiastic use of punctuation to be irritating, I really liked this book overall. As a woman who came out later in life, after a traditional marriage and motherhood myself, I could totally identify with some of what "Mandy" goes through in this story. There are lots of women out there like me that would enjoy this too. I'll certainly be reading the continuing saga!

4.0 out of 5 stars Realistic and Engaging Portrayal July 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
For lesbians who came out later in life, often after getting married and having children, Mandy's "The Discreet Lesbian" is a great read and will be very familiar. From the first kiss with a woman to the next phase of figuring it all out, this book gets it right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well done! March 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is an introduction to a series that follows two mainstream characters into their relationship and through the drama that ensues. It was realistic in many ways and covered many of the issues that lesbian love faces without trying to cover them all ... at least, not in the first part of the story. It does look like the rest of the series could get a bit over reaching, but I haven't read them, so I can't say for sure. It does look like they could be fun. The book is well written and carefully crafted and the characters are easy to follow. Beyond that, I could even relate in many ways, which doesn't happen often for me. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Waiting for the Next Installment.... July 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I was surprised how quickly I became engrossed in the story line. It's sad to think how society is so judgmental and critical. It's a beautiful story of two people finding themselves and discovering their love for each other - really looking forward to the next segment. Two thumbs up!!!
