Once again, Don Meadows has come to us with another story relative to our times, involving the some of the characters from his previous book.
Like Clancey, Don has hit a home run with a fictional account, and technically accurate, about the men and machines of the deep, submarines.Written by someone who has been there, done that, in the world of submarines.
I would hope it is only a matter of time before his storys are made into movies, which would be a must see!!!
You will not be disappointed!

EPITAPH tells the non-stop tale of Russian and American submariners who set out to thwart a terrorist plot to blow up a nuclear device placed in New York harbor during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In this day and age of GPS reckoning and hi-tech listening, little moves above or in the world oceans without someone noticing, unless you hide in plain sight.

Nicely woven throughout this taut tale are the strands of hope for Commander McKinnon's broken heart & Captain First Rank Danyankov's frozen soul.

Written in brief, rapid episodes, D. Clayton Meadows once again (his first was OF ICE AND STEEL) tells a haunting, thrilling tale of underwater hunts & warfare, complete with lucid descriptions of actions & materiel.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy or remember the world of submariners, as well as for those of us who'll never, ever find themselves inside 'em! Could not put this gripping read down until the breath-taking & satisfactory ending.

R. J. Brown is the author of STANDING THE WATCH: The Greatest Gift, a memoir & the upcoming cozy mystery THE DEAD HUSBAND.

EPITAPH is cover to cover adventure! Lovers of navel thrillers will be impressed at this second book by D. Clayton Meadows. I know I was. Of Ice And Steel: A Cataclysmic International Conflict Across Space And Time. would be hard book to follow for any author, however D. Clayton Meadows has fired all tubes and scored big time. EPITAPH would make a great movie with the thrills coming a knot a minute. Picking up this book will put all your other chores and cares on the back burner for the duration. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys high sea action.

The plot here is creative and simple and the author apparently knows what he's talking about. Apparently, however, the book's editor is not quite so accomplished -- there are numerous typos and even grammatical errors. And though the underlying plot is clever, the trip to the denouement is predictable. However,it was fast-moving and suspense-filled, but I'm taking off one star for the typos, which drove me crazy and took away from the experience.

The book has a great story and plot to it... But prior to this book going to print someone should have read it and repaired the misspellings and the terrible at times Grammer being used,,, simple stuff like a UBS instead of USB port.
