Congressman for sale.,

This review is from: Epitaph for a Lobbyist (Paperback)
Note: R.B. Dominic is a pseudonym for Mary Jane Latsis (1927-1997).
Epitaph for a Lobbyist is a run of the mill type "whodunit". While Congress investigates allegations of bribe taking by one of its own, a principle witness is murdered. There are a number of serious problems with this book. The characters are poorly developed, the dialogue is stilted and the plot is completely uncompelling. As mystery novels go, Epitaph for a Lobbyist is very unsatisfying. To use the term mediocre to describe it would be overly generous. Not recommended.

This review is from: Epitaph for a Lobbyist (Hardcover)
I've just been rereading the R. B. Dominic books (another pseudonym for the Emma Lathen duo) and have enjoyed them. They seem dated, compared to the more sensational books written now - and are closer to what used to be the standard 200 pages for a mystery. These books are all enjoyable, character is the main part of them, and they are a great escapist read. Would recommend any of them for recreational reading - not intense, not graphically gory, just mysteries.
