5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Real Thing in R&R
This is the same review I wrote for the Stop the Future CD. I just love this band. This CD tends a little bit more to punk dynamics and a little less to the New Wave of Stop the Future. I have seen them twice now, the last time with Against Me in a sold out community levitation.

They can probably hold their own to any band playing at this time -- if you...

Here's another skinny tie throwback from the fine folks at Dirtnap. Very much part of this up and coming new wave revival along with the Briefs et al. Catchy, hook oriented songs that fall somehwere in between the, well, The Briefs and Missing Persons with a look that was clearly heisted from the Weirdos' closet. 5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Real Thing in R&R, November 3, 2005
This review is from: Epoxies (Audio CD)
This is the same review I wrote for the Stop the Future CD. I just love this band. This CD tends a little bit more to punk dynamics and a little less to the New Wave of Stop the Future. I have seen them twice now, the last time with Against Me in a sold out community levitation.

They can probably hold their own to any band playing at this time -- if you want to have fun and not drown is some stupid sxxx!!!

Think: the highest energy, punk chug a chug, new wave melody, and the best front female front person in music today. They need more attention.

Buy both of their CDs and rocket.
Can't say enought about this band so here goes:

I am having so much fun these days rediscovering my R&R roots. The Epoxies are a big part of that. I grew up in the 50s with Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, the Wailers, and the Kingsmen. We danced like crazy every Friday and Saturday night. In the 60s I loved both the Beatles, Stones, and many others and found the Delta Blues. I hated the 70s with the Disco Beat until the punks launched with the Pistols -- especially the Clash. The Clash have always been my benchmark for a great band with a real message. I loved the dub reggae of Scratch Perry .. so beautiful. I listened to classical, Jazz, and the blues in the 80s and 90s and missed a lot of great music.

After the 2004 election I was so pissed off that I dusted off my punk record collection and got back into gear and discovered some great punk I missed including Gang of Four, Wire, and the great Fugazi. I saw Gang of Four, Bloc Party, Dick Dale, the Thermals, and Shellac this year in Portland. (A reviewer said that Portland is a bombed-out city -- that is really funny. We have twenty venues a weekend and many of the leading bands in the US here).

I saw the Epoxies last Saturday night and was smiling the entire show. They are just beautiful and so much fun. I get great positive energy from everybody in the band -- especially Roxy. Roxy expresses a big heart with real soul. She has powerful positive energy on stage can only be compared with the Clash's Joe Stummer and a few others.

They should keep speeding their great energy out to us all and tell the story of our times -- always focused on the heart and compassion. They will help so many people have a better life by showing how to combat alienation and lifeless art of MTV and Wal Mart. I recommend reading Guy DeBord on how to combat the alien spectacle through participatory art http://www.bopsecrets.org/SI/debord/

Roxy -- we bow down and thank you for reaching out at the emotional level -- everyone needs to lock hands and be part of the performance.

We must build community and compassion and have fun -- that is what Epoxies music does. The real spirit of rock and roll is alive with the Epoxies... Chuck Berry and Little Richard would love you..

4.0 out of 5 stars SO much fun!, April 6, 2005
This review is from: Epoxies (Audio CD)
This band is so cool. Their music is new wave synth punkish. Some say it sounds like something straight from the 80s, but I disagree. They blend that 80s synth pop with classic punk to create a whole new sound.
I cannot wait for their next album to come out. With a little more experience, they will amazing. Their style is original and really fun. When I listen to it, I just want to put on some black boots and shake my little booty, oh yea!

5.0 out of 5 stars wicked awesome!!!, September 11, 2004
This review is from: Epoxies (Audio CD)
Yes, it sounds like it came from 1983, but the Epoxies rock!!! I can't stop playing this cd. I usually leave cd's in my car stereo, but this one, I have to keep bringing it back and forth from the car to the house. "Need More Time" and "Losing Control" are excellent. The whole album is fun, emotional and just wonderful. Maybe it's nostalgia because I grew up in the 80s, but instead of being postmodern and just copying a bunch of other junk, the Epoxies capture something most bands trying to be "80s" or revival or whatever don't. "Kids in America" comes to mind when I listen to the Epoxies and I think that's fabulous.

Fans of the male variety will not be disappointed by the fluorescent, high energy stage presence of Roxy Epoxy, frontwoman extrordinare. My only beef with this band would be that sometimes they try too hard to be new wave and not hard enough to be the Epoxies. But, by and by, you can't argue with fun. The Epoxies deliver it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get the CD - Then See them Live, July 19, 2005

I love this CD as well as their new one (stop the future). The music is great and Roxie's vocals are fantastic - so much so that I decided to catch the group live during the summer 2005 tour (headlined by the Aquabats).

To quote a review I read elsewhere, "Look in the dictionary under "Born Frontwoman" and there'll be a picture of vocalist Roxy Epoxy"! They weren't lying. She put's on a high-energy performance that is nothing short of incredible. Roxie's gotta burn more calories in 5 minutes on stage than most people do in a week. A tight band with great tunes and a fantastic live show.

i thought it was the early 80's when i heard this album, but unlike the one-hit new wave albums of that time, every track on this cd is a winner!

the band is tight, the roxy does a great siouxie.

a good party album.

4.0 out of 5 stars review of expoxies s/t record (dirtnap), March 23, 2004

this record rules, hands down. i don't know what the first guy who responded was yammering on about how this album "only a few good tracks don't make a good album"..there's only like 1 or 2 songs that are not as "rockin" as the rest of the album..
my personal favorite is "we're so small" #3.
i saw the expoxies last year and was very impressed, i really recommend this record

4.0 out of 5 stars The Epoxies, January 21, 2004
This review is from: Epoxies (Audio CD)
With some pretty interesting & simple DEVO sounding synthesizer lines accompanied by a woman lead singer with a full voice and sounds a little like Exene from X, this band definately has found their "sound." Definately considered hard-core punk despite the heavy synth. influence...buy this if you like hard punk and early synth. sounds and jumbled up into one really cool band!
