Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Epson PowerLite 71c is incredibly portable at 6.8 pounds, has a footprint of just 9.1 by 11.9 inches, and sports an affordable price tag without sacrificing quality. It comes with an impressive array of features and specs that offer ease of use and a crisp, rich image. It provides a full 1,000 lumens of brightness and a 300:1 contrast ratio. With three 0.7-inch high-aperture TFT LCDs operating at 1,024 x 768 XGA resolution, both the image detail and the 24-bit color appear with full clarity, while a digital comb filter results in greater video stability, increased contrast, and fewer digital errors. The 4:3 aspect ratio is also ideal for video presentations.

The 71c has a 160W UHE bulb that ensures bright images in most environments and has an expected life of around 1,500 hours. Brightness uniformity is typically about 88 percent, while screen size can vary depending on the distance to the projection surface (usually 1 to 11 meters), anywhere from 28 to 300 inches.

The projector is ready to use right out of the box. It supports multiple formats, including NTSC, PAL, SECAM, HDTV (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i), RCA, and S-video, as well as USB, PS/2, and ADB mouse compatibility. The mini D-sub 15-pin video connector and RCA and mini stereo jack inputs permit quick connection to standard video cards and audio equipment. Audio plays through either the built-in monaural speaker or a connected audio system via a mini-stereo jack output.

The 71c comes with an easy-to-use remote control and has a four-button control panel as well as mouse control. It is compatible with both Mac and PC systems and comes backed with a comprehensive two-year warranty on parts and labor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epson Projector, July 29, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Epson PowerLite 71c Projector (Office Product)
After months of pricing and feature comparison's, I opted for the Epson 71c LCD projector, since it was the best priced XGA (1024x768)projector available. There are less expensive models with lower resolution (VGA), and other XGA models that go as high as $14,000.00! Factors to consider are: Lumens (brightness), resolution, video inputs (VGA/SVGA/S-Vid/HDTV), lifespan of the bulb (hours), and cost of the bulb (replacement bulb for this model on the internet is [price range]).

The most common application for projectors are business presentations, so if this is your use, the weight may be important.

I have an HDTV tuner card and a DVD player on my home PC, so connecting the Epson to my home PC turned my living room into a High Definition Theater! You can connect directly to your PC or, as I did, use a SVGA cable splitter. With the splitter, I can use the regular monitor without using the projector in order to conserve the lamp life(rated at 1500 hours).

The Epson can turn the image upside down, if you need to mount it from the ceiling. Keystone correction compensates for an angled projection by turning the trapezoidal image back into a rectangular image.

The unit has functioned flawlessly(got it in January 02). Since I have not used other projectors, I can't compare it with other units; but I have no regrets with this product. Ordering thru Amazon.com was convenient and painless, no sales tax, and free shipping!
