If you own one of the scanners listed here this card will help you get your work done faster.
Compatible with these Epson Scanners: Expression 1600, 1640XL, 1680 & GT-15000, GT-30000. I have performed my own "Real World" tests to show the difference in scanning speed between this card and the stock USB(1.0) connection on the 1600 scanner it was in. They were run on a PowerBook G4 running MacOS X 10.5.8 using the EPSON Scan Utility. These results are also representative of running tests on a PowerMac G3 with Mac OS X 10.2 & on a PowerMac G5 with MacOS X 10.3 & 4 & 5. SCAN to TIFF tests: FIREWIRE: 25.6MB = 25s 102.42MB = 1m21s 409.69MB = 4m41s USB: 25.6MB = 49s 102.42MB = 2m47s 409.69MB = 10m41s Please note: These results refer to the Epson Expression line of scanners: 1600, 1640XL & 1680 which all have USB 1.0 & SCSI connections. I was not able to test against the GT series of scanners. |
