While you can save a ton of money with OEM products, this never works well with inks.

It's much better to use the Epson ink than the remanufactured!!

I received this reply from Epson about the capacity of each:
High-capacity Black (126): About 385 pages;
Extra High-capacity Black (127): About 945 pages;
High-capacity Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (126): About 470 pages;
Extra High-capacity Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (127): About 755 pages.

And the rest of Epson's reply:
Epson does not provide the ink volume in mls for its cartridges because mls do not translate into any usable print information. Mls will not tell you how much printing you can get out of a cartridge. To get an idea of how much printing can be done from a cartridge, Epson provides estimated page yields for the black cartridges and color cartridges for its printers.

My workforce printer sucks ink at an alarming rate. Some things I have found to reduce ink usage include: 1) set default to draft and black ink only (yes, it uses color when printing b&w text), 2) use smooth finish bright white paper, 3) decrease the gamma setting, 4) increase the brightness setting a lot and decrease contrast a little. The ink itself is fine, but the cartridges have a chip that makes them not refillable, and cheap Chinese knockoff cartridges are not coming onto the market as I had hoped they would when I bought the printer. So if you are stuck with a printer that takes these cartridges, the ink is really good, just too expensive, and no relief for that appearing after a year on the market.

Ink is fast drying and non smearing. I prefer the output on this Epson printer to my Canon Pixma printer. This printer does go through Black cartridges quickly. I suggest unless you use a lot of color buying the 125 series low capacity color cartridges and coupling that with the high capacity 126 series Black cartridges. In addition, I have been able to print a good 20+ sheets in Black and White after the Epson printer ink utility states that the black cartridge is out of ink. I have not tried to use the suggestions from one of the other reviews to extend the life of black ink cartridges but I will try this. The cartridges are expensive and they do seem to get used up rapidly.

I don't often write reviews on items, however after reading the reviews for this ink cartridge, I felt I should give my side. I have had the Epson Workforce520 for almost an entire year now.

I am a grad student and also own my own business. So I do a fair amount of printing.

I have had zero problems with this ink, in fact, I have thought it to last me much, much longer than previous inks I had purchased for dell and HP printers. I am an Epson fan for life.

I guess it is one of those things that falls under the "to each their own" category, but I say if you are on the fence, at least try it. It may work to your liking.

:)

I received this ink with an Epson 845 printer.

It works fine and I would recommend it.

I'm sorry people have been told that they can use this ink in other printers or that it was overpriced compared to what you pay from Epson, but that's not what people here are looking for.

Review readers want to know if the product is any good, and yes, it is.

Medium load printing, say 10-20 pages per day, and this ink cartridge is already empty after less than 1 month. Not very impressive if you consider this is supposed to be the "high capacity" cartridge...

I use my printer and ink almost exclusively to make acrylic transfers. Inkjet printers are normally TERRIBLE for this (as the amount of water used smears/ruins the ink) however the Durabrite series is unique and can be used for this purpose. Couple this with the fact that it can stand up to a LOT of abuse once it's dry.

A quick lesson on transfers, so you can understand what this ink has to go through at my hands: If you put acrylic medium on a printout (most common ones are laser printed, or photocopied) it will bind with the ink, pull it OFF the paper, and make it's own image in the medium. A direct transfer is when you put medium on the paper, and press it onto another surface. The same thing happens, but your image is mirrored on surface. You spray the paper and it peels away with no problems leaving your image (in this case, Durabrite ink) permanently suspended in the medium.

Any other inkjet ink would run, smear, and fade immediately as soon as water touched it (think vampires in sunlight). The Durabrite runs a bit if you REALLY hose it down, but does not smear or stain. Even when it's run a bit, it was easily wiped up without any staining or permanent smudges. My blacks are vibrant black, even in my finished pieces that have been wet, re-wet, and scrubbed with sponges and paper towels. This piece in particular ([...]) is primarily done in black. I sprayed it down entirely with water several times (as it's a multi-layer piece) and as you can see the black held perfectly.

If it can hold up to my abuse it will print your resume, report, term paper, Dear John letter, family photos, or faxes just fine.
