Works very Well ... Comes with Cords ...,

I am a neophyte when it comes to using overhead projectors, but took a chance on this one. I was able to use the USB cord (included) to do a power presentation for a meeting, only 24 hours after the projector arrived. It was truly "plug & play."
A few days later, I needed to present a video clip to an audience. When I checked it out, I discovered that in videos, the USB cord was inadequate. So, I tried the "external monitor" cord (also included) and the situation was quickly resolved! There were no worries about buying the right cords to connect anything, and there was no problem in getting it set up. It works well in a "dimly lit room." It has a nice feature that turns off the light (but not the projector) when the front cover is closed, and it is "instantly cool" after turned off. Besides the cords, it comes with its own carrying case and a cd with a manual to install on your computer. I haven't yet run sound through the projector, since I have stereo speakers I use for that purpose. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! Would I tell friends about it? Without hesitation. *** Later note - I have since run sound through the projector. It is not as loud as using my stereo speakers, but it is OK in a smaller room.

This is the first projector I have owned, but not the first one I've used (I work with them).
For the price, I think this is an excellent deal. For ~$530 (projector) and ~$100 (screen), or do what I did - make your own, you can create your own home theater and watch tv/movies LARGE. When you compare that to the $800 42" LCD/Plasma, or the $1000 to $1500 50"... My screen is 100" diagonal. I also really like the features and user interface that Epson models use. Pretty easy to use and learn right out of the box, I didn't even look at the manual. This unit does have a USB connection for your computer, but I used the vga cable that came with the unit, and s-video for playing games/dvd's etc. Nice, bright picture, good contrast. Fairly quiet as projectors go. Warms up fast and instant power down. Comes with a remote and various cables (usb, vga, vga to component adaptor). In my opinion, this is the best VALUE XGA projector for the price. Sure you can find some entry level projectors in the $400 range, but they are native SVGA, not XGA. That makes a big difference when hooking up your computer or video games.

Oh my God am I happy I bought this projector! Let's just start by saying that I've always wanted to replace the crummy TV with a nice mammoth projector screen, 'size does matter'!
So anyway, I bought this, I think there was only one review when I did, and so felt like I was taking a risk with $600, but when it arrived, WOW! It was up and running in 5 minutes (not counting the entire day it took me to reshuffle all the furniture in my living room to get the biggest screen I could). Plugged it into my cable box, and my laptop, and it picked them up instantly! The next day I went and got myself an HD converter for my cable and plugged that in, and what a beautiful picture! What I would point out here though is that it does not have an HDMI slot (I believe the older model does), so they've sent a VGA component converter that works really really well, it just means that I can't hook up both my laptop and the cable at the same time, I have to manually switch cords, I'm thinking about buying a VGA splitter or something to do that for me soon. It works fine with one or even two lights on (just a little dark), in the day we open the curtains all the way and the picture is still very visible, even though I run it mostly on the 'low' brightness setting. Watching movies on this beauty are unbelievable! crisp, clear projection, here though I would recommend shutting the lights or whatever to get that theater experience! Another investment that I'm probably going to make is to get a good screen for the wall, although right now I'm projecting to a light brown wall and the picture is way better than I would have thought! It also has a USB function, where you can just plug the USB into the laptop and wala! you have output! this would work fine for presentations I guess (doesnt do that well with movies etc.) because the refresh rate is slower than the VGA input, but its a cool feature. Overall I've had it for almost 3 weeks and and not regretting it one bit! It is well worth the price and if you do buy it and use it as a home theatre, it's going to make you fall in love with TV all over again! Seriously, I used to watch TV once a week (sometimes even less), and now I'm a bonafide couch potato!

The unit I ordered came through with an error message and it would not work. However, I notified Epson and within a week I had a replacement unit which did work. They paid the postage both ways. I would rate the unit 5 stars on preformance to date, the only reason for an overall rating of 4 stars was getting a defective unit the first time.

Love It!!,
This review is from: Epson EX50 3LCD Multimedia Projector, XGA, 2200 Lumens (Office Product)
I had reservations about buying another gadget that may or may not work with my computer, and I've had problems with Epson printers in the past, but I decided to take my chances on this projector. I am so glad I did, because I love this thing!
It comes in a really nice little carrying case, with a bunch of different cords included. It's extremely easy to set up, just plug it in! I do have a Mac, so you can't use the USB cord with it (why, I don't know), you have to use the VGA cord and may need to get an adapter for it. My Mac came with the adapter so I was all set. Also, I had to go into System Preferences and tell the Mac to "detect displays," and then it was fine. The unit itself is small, warms up quickly, and the picture is far better than I could ever have hoped for. I am an artist and was looking for a quick way to project large images onto painting surfaces, and the picture is so bright and detailed that I could use it in a medium-sized room with the blind drawn during broad daylight. I probably could have seen it even with the blind up, the picture is just fantastic, especially for my purposes. And I like that I can set the light to a dimmer setting to save the bulb. I had no problems at all with the projector, it works great for my art purposes, it's simple to use, and I would highly recommend it.

You Get What You Pay For,,

Know what your getting, don't leave it to chance.
I don't know what these complainers are whining about! I saw this product, saw the roughly $600 dollar price tag, and decided to learn as much about it as I could before spending $600 dollars. I am pleased to say that this projector was not mis-represented in any way by Amazon.com. This is truely a fine projector. it has all the inputs I needed it to have (2 types of monitor connections, s-video, regular video {yellow, red and white conectors}, usb, and even a monitor out function). Also the brightness is outstanding, it can be used in a mostly dim room, but more light can be had the further away from the picture it is. I use mine all over the place! it's got a swell padded carrying case with a pocket for all the cables you might need. and the brightness and the color are so strong you don't really need a screen, I just use empty walls. The COLOR!! WOW! I have been playing some video games on it too, and the color is just amazing. I'm even useing low power mode to make the bulb last longer, and the color is still awsome. Ok now the down side. For many, this will be the coffin nail for this projector, but, there is no HD port. The projector isn't set up to be compatable with HD. I don't personally care about HD, but I know others do. it's still a pretty sharp picture, easily on par with highend TV's. I't just not HD sharp! Heat! Like most projectors, this one puts off alot of heat. it can easily raise the temp in a small room 5-10 degrees given enough time. I have started looking for simple ventilation methods to controll the heat a little better, but nothing yet. still I find my self willing to stand the heat to play HALO-3 and World Of Warcraft on a 12-foot diagonal picture. Oh yeah, My girl friend likes to watch TV with it hooked up to the DVR too.

The projector was easy to set up, just plug and play. Image clear and easy to focus. I am new to working with a projector and notebook computer for presentations, only used it once, but I believe it is going to be exactly what I need for my classroom demos. I almost bought a smaller lighter weight model, since I will be mobile in my work; but this projector is much better quality than any other light weight device.

Real bright so you can run it on low brightness which gives you more life out of your bulb. Very clear HD picture. It hooks up easily to the PS2. Using a HD Receiver the projector does 1080i from the over the air antenna. Owned for one month without issue so far. Would recommend to others if asked.

Simply, excellent product! For watching movies, presentations, musical shows, karaokee. I use it with a Bose speaker system for audio, the mix is fantastic!. Nice bright images even with lighted rooms. Easy to connect, really "plug and play". Highly recommended. Very pleased.
