I have been ordering Epson refills at amazon.com and from various sellers on Ebay for quite some time now. There are two distinct outcomes that I have experienced from these refills. The first (and most common) is a refill which functions and gives print quality identical to the brand new product from Epson. The second is a situation I have encountered a number of times which tries the patience. A cartridge which arrives in an unsealed package that is "unrecognized" by my Epson RX595 printer, as well as in my husband's RX580 (which are almost identical). At this point, there is nothing that can be done other than throw away the cartridge or try to get a refund or replacement from the seller.

I wish I could say that this happens only from Ebay sellers and not from amazon.com sellers (and I also sell on both) but I cannot identify the source for the ones that work vs. the ones that do not work. I must admit to not always checking the expiration date on these cartridges, so that could be the problem. I have recently seen some detailed instructions on suggested ways to overcome this situation but have been unable to locate it. So, although I have inadvertently contributed to this problem, the fact still remains that some of these genuine Epson cartridges simply will not work in my Epson printers.

I want to stress that amazon.com will always stand behind the products they sell. Some Ebay sellers are willing to give a replacement or a refund, although it is difficult to get a response from others.

All these inks together in my Epson RX580 printer let me print photo lab quality photos, it's a great convenience, but if I'm doing a larger batch of photos, I would save money by taking them to a photo shop.
