5.0 out of 5 stars Theater made easy, August 7, 2007
This review is from: Epson Moviemate 30s Home Theater Projector with Built-In DVD Player (Electronics)
I had read all the reviews on different projectors and decided on this one. My biggest worry was the 2 10 watt speakers having enough volume for outdoor s. They do. The sound that comes out of this little box is truly impressive. Not as good as a surround sound system, but that is to be expected. It is super easy to use. The lens shift is really handy for setting up. We have watched a movie nearly every night for the past week and a half. The only complaint I would have is the somewhat low contrast ratio (1000:1). At times I notice the black levels being a little grey, but It really isn't much of an issue. Purchased it with the Duet screen which is super easy to setup and because it opens horizontally it folds down to about 3 or 4 feet long, very easy for toting around. I compared it to Optoma's DV11 and Toshiba's ET20U. I narrowed out the Optoma right away, but it was close with the Toshiba. The toshiba can be set up very close to the screen which would be handy and it had and HDMI interface, however it only had 5 watt speakers and cost quite a bit more. Overall an excellent product that anyone would enjoy.

Home Movie Theater Projection Viewing will become the wave of the future with products as inexpensive and easy to use as the Epson Moviemate 30s. I can view all my movies on a large projection screen and it feels like I'm at the movies! The sound is great! I have used the DVD player already in the system and also viewing movies from my computer and have used other external sources for viewing. Just make sure you have a place for the projection screen and a place for the Moviemate- I have my Moviemate about 10.5 feet from the screen. I have had this product for over a month and use it about two times weekly. Its like going to the movies!

5.0 out of 5 stars epson moviemate 30s DVD projector, July 15, 2007
This review is from: Epson Moviemate 30s Home Theater Projector with Built-In DVD Player (Electronics)
Since we got this, Friday night has turned into family movie night
at our house. We've been using it in various rooms
without a screen. The sound sound system is by JVC and sounds
clean. The magnification, focus, and up-down-left-right adjustments
are quick, easy-to-use mechanical controls. Haven't had to use the
keystone correction, which is controlled by a menu somewhere.

Just so you know: it's much larger than the kind of computer
projector you use at the office. The power cord comes out
the front, which looks funny but works fine. The speakers and
disc tray are at the back, so you don't want to put it against
a wall or in a corner, as that makes the sound muddy.

No regrets at all. Sure, you could assemble your own DVD
projection setup from pieces, but I want something I can
grab under my arm for going over to a friend's house.
