5.0 out of 5 stars Cannot be beaten for the price..., January 8, 2007
I bought this recently - basically to scan all the family photos from about 25 years back... The results are beyond my wildest expectations... I even managed to scan over 1000 slides we had with excellent results... A bit slow sure but the results are great. The last scanner I used many years back was what made me choose a cheaper model... But I am amazed at the results...

Maybe I should have got the V700 or V750??

Cons... a bit slow and u can only scan 2 slides at once.. but the rest is great!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Very Well, April 22, 2007

(REAL NAME)
The Epson V350 scanner works very well indeed! I got this mostly so that I could scan 35mm negatives and slides. It has a nifty feature where you feed up to six negatives into a feeder on the cover and hit the auto scan mode and it does everything automatically! After a few minutes, your images appear in "My Pictures" (on PCs -- "Pictures" on Macs). For slides there is a holder for two that snaps into the scanner bed and again, in auto mode, it locates them and in a few minutes, you have them. I just got this thing yesterday and it just couldn't be easier. In the full auto mode, it recognizes anything that you want to scan. There is a professional mode where you can fine tune the scans. Naturally it scans photos at incredible resolution in the profession mode. You can access the professonal mode to select increased resolution for scanning negatives and slide, as well as photos. The included software is easy to follow and after a bit of experimenting, you're on your way. You can remove dust and enhance the image and all automatically. For what it does, it's reasonable price. It wasn't all that many years ago when something like this was the thing of dreams. Yet another excellent product from Epson.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I hoped for, but could work well for you., May 13, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a huge inventory of 35mm film accumulated over 40 years of shooting. I bought a high-end negatve scanner in order to digitize some of this inventory (like most photographers, only about 1 in 15 is worth saving). The process got very bogged down because my negatives are separated from the prints and it's very difficult to judge which of the negatives I want to scan. And scanning them all is too time-consuming and consumes huge amounts of disk space because this scanner operates at 5400dpi. I was therefore searching for a quick and easy way to do preliminary scans and make contact prints from which I could select the ones I wanted to run through the high-res scanner. This scanner attracted me as a possible solution because of the capability of auto-loading and scanning film strips. It hasn't really been a good solution as the film feeder is flimsy and quite fussy (it won't take a film strip with a tag on it, for example, and the original Kodak processing tag is on all of these rolls) and it's very slow.
For a general scanner this is quite a good machine and it's close to plug-and-play; also seems to be a very good value so I would recommend it highly for someone who needs to do occassional film strip scanning or just general scanning.
