5.0 out of 5 stars Epson PhotoPC 850z Digital Camera is the best!, December 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Epson Photopc 850Z Digital Camera 6X Zoom (Electronics)
I've been looking for a digital camera for quite a while, and have been doing a lot of reading on many brands, and different cameras. The Epson PhotoPC 850z is the best one i've seen yet. It has many advanced features, which are quite simple to use. A feature that I particularly liked was that for every picture that you take, you can record a 10 seconds audio message. That certainly elimates scribbling notes on the back of the photos once they've been developed. I also like the 2 inch LCD monitor on the back, and the tripod mount on the bottom. Another thing that I really liked is that you are able to put the memory card right into certain Epson printers, and print straight from there. This is certainly a high quality camera. Two thumbs up to the Epson PhotoPC 850z Digital Camera!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for IR, March 15, 2007
This review is from: Epson Photopc 850Z Digital Camera 6X Zoom (Electronics)
It is amazing how fast technology has changed in 7 years.
Now 10MP cameras are almost the norm.
Still, they got some things right back then, better than what we have now in certain aspects.
The Sony 2.1 MP sensor in this was pretty sweet, and highly sensitive to infrared light.

While I can't really recommend this camera for general use any more, slap on a R72 infrared filter and you have yourself and unmodified digicam capable of taking handheld infrared photos -- not long tripod exposures like most require today. If you are interested in IR, and find one of these cheap, it is well worth picking up for that alone! A sturdy, quality camera that is a bit slow, but still quite functional today, especially since it used CF card memory.
