excellent value,

Excellent print quality, both in colour and black/white. Very fast when printing in black/white. Colour printing speed could use a little bit of improvement (a photo-quality print at 2880dpi can take up to 15 minutes, depending on complexity of the picture) but I'm not complaining. A little on the loud side when the cartridges charge up. Ink lasts for a fairly long time. Nice, clean looking printer. The photo-quality printing capability when using glossy photo paper is superb, like you just had photos professionally processed. Good drivers with no compatibility problems on Win2K Pro, although Epson already had newer, better drivers available on their website when I got the printer. USB connectivity comes in handy. Decent software package with some very cool features. Excellent bang for the buck with this machine.

I was disappointed in this printer. It makes outstanding color copies. However the cartridges are very expensive. Each one contains a microchip, I think to measure the ink suppy. Because of the microchip there are no generic cartridges available. The cartridges supplied with the printer are designed to initiate the printing process and appear to contain very little ink. If you plan on buying this printer, plan on buying extra cartridges right away. Three cartridges (color or black) will cost you about the same as the printer.

Great (cheap!) little printer,

This printer is a replacement for our Canon Multipass (never buy one of those!). It performs extremely well, better than average for the price. Setup was a breeze -- I had this out of the box and printing inside of 10 minutes. Documentation is extremely easy to use. I definitely like the onscreen ink indicator. It's nice to be able to see in a click whether I'm getting close to needed a new cartridge. It actually prints faster than advertised. I also appreciate having the choice between parallel and USB ports. Drawbacks are that it is louder than the other one, and the cartridges are pricey. However, the print quality is incomparable, and what good are inexpensive cartridges when a printer never works?!! I'll stick with Epson, thank you very much!

C 60 is a Great Printer for the Money,
By Brunzie "Brian" (Illinois) - See all my reviews

I just bought the C60 and have been extremely happy with the quality. I am fussy being a professional photographer but the prints are acceptable photo quality prints. I don't think they are archival though which may be a drawback. I will order ink on Ebay for it to cut costs...do a search for a source. The speed of the printer was very impressive. I have a Kodak PM 100 and it takes 10 minutes for an 8x10. I can get a good one from this machine in less than 2 minutes with a parallel port connection. The film factory software is neat too. I've only owned this for a few days but I am thoroughly impressed for the money spent. You will probably not get a better printer for anything less than 200 bucks. Yeah, it's noisy but so is my vacuum cleaner and both do a great job. At 79 bucks after rebate, its almost a throwaway machine if it works well for a year or two. I wouldn't fix it at that price...just go buy a new one!!

Awesome printer,

I love this printer so far. It is super fast and the printing looks great. It was a little loud, but I don't mind becuase it is so nice. And what can you expect for a hundred dollar printer? I was actually suprised at how fast it was. It really is as fast as it says. The installation was quick and easy. I didn't have any problems, no freezing etc. I didn't have to re-boot. I am thrilled to have it. And I would recommend it to everyone.

I'm very happy with the speed and quality of this printer. On a Macintosh, the software is simple and efficient. For the astonishingly low price, you get very good results. But the noise comments posted are completely true. I bought this as a replacement for an Epson Stylus 740, which I would hardly have called quiet, but even so I was still pretty surprised at the clatter and bang this thing produces. The good news is that the noise doesn't last long -- a typical black and white spends only about three seconds in the actual printing -- but while it's going on, you'll swear Jerry Lewis is unfolding a deck chair nearby.

I'm an HP printer guy myself, but I bought this as a replacement for my girlfriend's mom's old mono printer (it was a 7 year old Canon BJ-200...!) I ask you, how many photo quality printers can you find for this kind of money? Setup is as easy as any.. Plug the printer in, turn the printer on, hit the "ink" button, insert ink cartridges, hit the ink button again. Then you insert the CD in your computer and double click on the Epson icon. A 5 minute job. Note that every time you reset power to this printer, that the heads get cleaned, potentially wasting ink! Do not turn this printer off unless you have to. If you print a lot of letters and want text only, I don't recommend this printer, because the text quality in normal mode is only so-so (you can tell it was printed on a d.m. printer.. some pixels visible). I have not tested text in high quality mode, but I'm sure it's much better than in normal. As with my old Epson Stylus 600, this one does better with high end papers.. Buy the good, thick ink-jet paper if you want good results! My HP Deskjet 930 is a little better in this area, but I paid twice as much for my HP. It's not a silent printer, but where do YOU print from-- the public library? Most doc's I print are 2 pages or less. I can deal with a noisy printer for 60 seconds. I live by an airport; that's what I call noisy. If you need an jack-of-all-trades printer, you can't do better for the money. If you need ultimate speed and text quality, you'll have to spend much more than [this].

Excellent....but...,

my epson 740 printer died recently. the internal chip wouldn't reset and it didn't make sense to get it repaired/replaced out of warranty.(if your epson printer has all lights blinking and it doesn't work, email epson...there's a certain combination/sequence of depressing the toner-paperfeed-on/off buttons that resets the printers chip.) i liked the printer very much. really good pictures. the C60 is very similar except that you get higher resolution printing but at the cost of chewing through ink cartridges. you probably need to print at the 2880 resolution if you have a good digital camera or you're printing a picture from a Kodak CD burned for you when having your negatives developed (an option that is fantastic for durability/archiving offered by any establishment that offers Kodak processing. usually a $6-10 option). otherwise, stick to 1440 resolution for photographs and less resolution for manuscripts/letters. save ink! the cartridge problem? simple ...go to tylermartin. (you don't have to be a mental giant to figure out their web site name address!) click on to the American made Epson compatible cartridge selection there (as opposed to the non-American made cartridges there). Almost 2/3rd's less than Epson's price !!! i'm on my first pair now, it works just GREAT. and YES it has that stupid chip attached to each cartridge. personally, i ran through 12 black and 12 color cartridges from tylermartin on my older epson 740. excellent resolution and color fidelity. no clogging. i have several pictures hanging on the wall out of direct sunlight that show negligible fading after 8+ months. end of cartridge consumption problems! (alas, my older epson 740 cartridges are still only 1/4th epson's price at tylermartin). Perhaps a light bulb will turn on somewhere and Amazon's wholesale buyer will contact the manufacturer: USA Inkjets. In the past i've purchased Rhinotek cartridges compatible for Epson through Amazon. I see no discernible difference between these, Rhinotek's or Epson's except the ridiculous price...2/3rd's less! go figure. (well packaged in individual printed boxes with barcodes and ready for retail display.) Oh yes, when i loaded the USA cartridges, the ink levels read correctly unlike the original ones that came with the printer which showed the black half filled and the color only 3/4's filled. perhaps the cartridges were too old and were stewing in the printer's box too long. anyhow, i recommend the c60 as a great quality, relatively quiet, fast (with usb port) printer. excellent buy if you can get your hands on inexpensive cartridges.

Speedy but Expensive in the long run.,
By Cristian Avalos (Panama) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Epson Stylus C60 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
To be honest i'm not very happy with this printer, not because it's performance and speed, it is because the cost in the long run.Acoording to PCMAG this machine is one of the fastest printers in the market today, (if you buy it and put your first sheet of paper and press the print button you will know what I mean) the paper is almost spit out of this little machine. But at 10 cents per page the ink investment per year (About US$250) is too much. If I have another chance to buy a printer again I will buy the Epson C80 or the Canon S500 witout a doubt.Best

Disgusting Piece of Junk,
By
This review is from: Epson Stylus C60 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I think it lasted well the first year or so, and it's nice that you can buy generic cartridges for like $3 if you buy in bulk, but this printer is a nightmare. Not for college students! I came back from winter break only to find it not able to print much. The ink head gets dried out or clogged up if inactive! Makes you psychotic and wastes HOURS UPON HOURS of time, with trying to run printhead cleaning utilities. Eventually it began to work, but I went on Spring Break only to come back to a printer that can't print in black. The color works fine though now... hmmm, but with all the utlities I've run, the black ink has run out. I left the extra ink cartridges at home, and I can't even print documents out in color (e.g., in blue). I hate this loud, frustrating printer. It makes me die a little inside. Run away and buy anything else!
