excellent all-around,

This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3200 All-in-One Multifunction (Office Product)
i bought this all-in-one epson cx3200 in march,2003unlike the previous reviewer there is nothing broken out of box, i'm sure its just a isolated incident.. anywayz, the print quality is awesome! i could hardly distinguish the original when printing on photo paper. and yes, when printing at its highest resolution it does take about 3 min for a full page of photo. text print is very close to laser quality, very sharp. alot faster than printing in photo. copy function works perfectly. there are 2 buttons, one for black copy and one for color copy. both works good because the scanning and printing goes concurrently. scanning is good as well.

Not a Great Choice,
By
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3200 All-in-One Multifunction (Office Product)
This scanner/printer/copier looks attractive and appealing and what a great price, right? Why shouldn't you buy it? Well...I bought this to replace an Epson 580 printer and an aging scanner and have several years experience with a variety of Epson printers. Right out of the box, a plastic tab broke off the printer cartridge carrier for the black ink. A bad sign? Within less than two weeks, the color became inconsistent on identical jobs from one printing to the next. Cleaning the printhead did not help this and there were no other troubleshooting suggestions available in the software or manual. The Epson color ink ran out very quickly in much less than the advertised printings, was expensive to replace, and even the black and white copying and all other functions ceased to operate until the color ink was replaced. The scanner was slow and the epson software that came with it was cumbersome. I returned this item and will not buy an all-in-one again. Epson printers have been a good choice for me before now. The all-in-one design is not truly functional.

A Simple All-in-One Printer,
By
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3200 All-in-One Multifunction (Office Product)
After owning an Epson 880 printer, I decided to upgrade to an multifunction printer for it's features. I needed a printer/ scanner/copier. This is the printer for me. The plus side is it's simple features, ease of use, and price. The b/w copier makes the copies with simple push of the button. It also does color copy. The software allows me view my scanned pictures in a picture gallery, rename it, and then save the ones I want only. The printing quality for photo paper is acceptable. After comparison shopping, I found this model under $$$$ after rebate. Also, an added bonus, the printer comes with a USB cable connection($$$ value) which most printers require you to buy separately. The negatives are that XP Windows user should download a update/patch from microsoft.com for the software to run properly. No problem, I followed the instructions and the printer is up and running. The paper did jam once so I removed the paper and redid the print job. No problems with jamming since then. All in all, the Epson cx3200 is a reliable printer, scanner, and copier. It makes sense to own this printer for any small home business wanting to save time and money.

Designed to waste as much ink as possible.,

It clogs continually, and it always takes more than one cleaning cycle to get it printing right again. Which wastes all sorts of ink. When a cartridge gets down to 10% or less it won't allow you to run a cleaning cycle anymore, it tells you there's not enough ink left to run cycle to give you an idea about how much ink it wastes while cleaning. It's down right criminal how the printer manufactures purposely gouge you with replacement cartridges. scanning is adequate though.

This is a dud printer,

My father-in-law bought this printer for me less than two years ago. I had the same paper-feed problems described above (large amounts being pulled through for no reason). Eventually a sensor was damaged and it stopped working, I exchanged it within the year warranty and hoped it was a fluke. The "new" one that was sent had the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS from the get go, and eventually stopped working as well. Unfortunately, the warranty had run out and I am now stuck with a $175. paper weight.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

What a disappointment,

I've been trying to get this printer to work for three days with no luck. I have a Mac operating on OS X 10.3.3 and downloaded the latest printer driver off the Epson site. Every time I try to print, the printer stalls out on me ("Print job stopped"). I've uninstalled and installed again, to no avail. The Epson help site is useless. All my previous printers have been HPs and I wish I had stuck to them. This printer is also the loudest machine I've ever had -- really annoying. In all, I'd say I wasted $50 (after rebate) on what looks like a very large and ugly doorstopper. Don't buy this machine!

I bought this printer about a year ago and ever since i bought it theres been problems. First when i got it i suppose it printed ok pictures but after a few days there was lines and streaks all over my color pictures, also the black text had lots of lines and spots of black ink where there shouln't be. After that the printer wouldn't work it kept saying communication error, so i could not print off the computer, only photo copy which was crap and took ages!!!

Disappointing product,

All in one design is attractive but in practice this product does not meet expectations. No single component (scanner, copier or printer) works without annoying troubleshooting required. The printer cartridges from Epson are constantly being pushed anytime ink is low. The Epson cartridges are significantly overpriced compared to generic pieces. Another bothersome point is that once both the color and B/W cartidges are empty you will need to replace both in order to start print again. I am still looking for a low maintenance, plug n play printer that is ready for use anytime I need it. Input from friends is that I will only be happy when I shift to a laser printer.

terrible printer,

I thought my cx3200 was just a 'friday built' one - but no. I have used two identical models and they all had the same problems.
It has a dreadful sheet feeding mechanism, randomly it will grab 1, 2, 10 or all of the paper in the sheet feeder. Even if you are lucky enough for it to only grab one sheet, it often skews the paper. The text print quality is poor. Surely this is a basic function any printer should perform adequately? Also, the printer decides when the print cartridges need replacing. And you cannot use the other cartridge until the empty cartridge is replaced.

Not as bad as the Lexmark I had before but still junk,
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3200 All-in-One Multifunction (Office Product)
The first couple of prints worked fine. Everything looked ok and matched the standards of my understandings of a ink jet printer. But it soon turned bad. Whenever I leave the printer off for a period of time (1 week, 2 weeks) the black ink gets amazingly clogged up and prints horribly. So I have to clean print heads all the time. It comsumes a "considerable" amount of ink every time I do this so in the end this procedure is inevitably going to ruin me. Not only financially but also mentally this printer is beginning to mess with me. I cannot under any circumstances recommend this printer to anyone.
The built-in scanner on the other hand has never caused me any problems. But it would be stupid to buy this printer-scanner just to get the scanner when the whole beast is so incredibly gigantic and takes up so much space. The size also makes it impossible to overlook constantly reminding you of the fine deal you made when buying this monster. Oh, I forgot to mention that it is noisy as well. However this is just my opinion based on the printer issued to me. I cannot guarantee that I haven't just recieved a bad specimen of the breed but still that would be weird and unacceptable.
