5.0 out of 5 stars Three-in-One All-in-One with Unique Photo Feature
Excellent value. Prints, copies, flatbed scans as expected. Uniquely prints photos that are smug and water resistant. No other multi-function manufacturer offers that.

Well engineered. Smooth and easy setup. Photos are excellent for a multi-function, nearly as good as my Epson Picturemate.

3.0 out of 5 stars I got what I paid for
I got this for $40 at Staples after rebates. My HP just died, and I needed something quick. For that money, it's a bargain. But you get what you pay for.

PROS - Inexpensive AIO
CONS - Stand-alone copier is disappointing, printing is a bit slow

Printer - Works fine, but quite slow

Scanner - Works fine

I thought about buying the more expensive Epson CX5800F because it offers fax. I seldom use fax so instead I'll just scan in the document, then either email or use internet fax.

My only knock is that this is marketed under the overloaded term "All in one" so I guess that makes the CX5800F an "All-er in one". It would be so much clearer if the industry adopted acronyms like PSC or PSCF to clearly distinguish major functions at a glance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good printer for the money but "All in one"??????????, March 12, 2006
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
Good printer for the money, but it is not true when you say "All in one printer" this term we use with printers that can do

1. Print
2. Copy
3. Scan
4. Fax

This printer does 1st 3 so I might call it "Almost All in one printer", I mean EPSON could have add a small modem port while putting all this scanning and printing hardware, I am sure it would cost less then a $1 to EPOSN giving the margin of being printer manufacturing giant of the world.

Printer is fast but not fast enough as its peers like Canon, also printing speed mentioned in the book must be "Draft" printing speed otherwise if you could have more then one regular page in 30sec you might be printing a triangle or a single phrase per page :)

okay lets talk about quality, I gave it 5/5 period, for a dirt cheap printer (I got it for $30 from Staples.com) it does meet or exceed any expectation you might have for a printer in this category.

Scanning is good but software should have little more options but copy function is a killer, just press color or B/W button from the printer (whatever type of copy you need) and boom, you got a copy in less then a minute while sitting on your desk and without truing on the computer, cool isn't it? No more going to store for a stupid 5 cent copy and waste of 1/2 gallon of gas; not to mention the time wasted (on invested).

Complete waste of Ink as all EPOSN printers are; it does a little version of head cleaning every time you turn it on, better keep it on to save the ink, use only 3 Watts in sleep mode since Epson Stylus CX3810 has earned the ENERGY STAR® by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Remember printer manufacturers make money from the sales of ink cartridges not printer so these suckers drink ink faster then your fish drink water. (this cliché seems little far fetched huh?)

this printer use Durabrite ink but I don't :) , I use compatible dye based ink cartridges from eBay; ¼ the price and does the trick as per my requirements, shhhhhhh..... don't tell EPSON!!!

I mean come on; get serious here, why should I pay 4 times more for a ink that last 80 year? I am sure I might not last that long myself :) you know I am not maintaining historical archive for the library of congress using this printer :)

I use it for my every day work and most of my print out heading towards garbage bin after I am done with them; in some cases they go out to postal mail where I am sure I don't need them for next 80 years.

For Photo printing I always use 6 colors printing where as this printer has 4 basic colors so detail in photos are not that "detail" but again not bad either, if you print photos on good quality photo papers they came out as "keepers".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great All-In-One for 50 bucks, March 12, 2006

Just bought and installed it , installation was a breeze. Ran my first print , good print results and extremetly quiet while printing.
Scanned a picture and it scanned perfect with great results but it was bit slow and the software lets you save in various formats like PDF JPEG TIFF.
Love the single button copy feature but a bit slow though. Can't expect more for that price.
Overall 5 stars, just wish the inks were a bit cheaper. Very happy with my purchase.

Photo printer - No experience

Ink - Uses 4 catridges, a plus. The cartridges are easy to load, and the software monitors ink level, that's nice.

Installation - Follow the instructions on the included "Getting Started" poster. Takes about 15 minutes at most.

Stand-alone copier - Useless. If you want 5 copies, you have to press the "Start" button 5 times!

DOS - Since it doesn't support PCL, printing in DOS may be difficult.

As a second printer, or for a dorm room, this printer is a bargain. As a day to day work-horse, look elsewhere.

BOTTOM LINE - The printer is worth $40, but doesn't meet MY needs. I knew it wouldn't, but as I said I needed somehing to replace my dead HP real fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epson CX3810, December 20, 2005
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
Works well. It prints how I expected it to for a low priced printer. I picked it up at a local Staples for $59.95 after rebates and it does everything I wanted it to. I love having the scanner and with seperate inks, it saves me a lot of money on refills. I liked the software that came with it and it is easy to use to me. Epson is a great company and this is a great printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good ones should be appreciated., February 16, 2006

After faulty MFC-210C and blurry MP450, I bought this printer. I am very happy with this. All functions are simple and to my utmost satisfaction.

The first day, I printed 25 glossy letter photos and they are all vry good. So tried all other brands before Epson but No other can beet Epson for color photo printing.

I am just wondering now why I wasted my money and time on other brands. May be I heard and saw too much of them but finally I could find a good printer that is Epson.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow. Complete and utter WASTE of money., January 23, 2007
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
I had this printer for about two months before it started flaking out on me. I got it for [...] after rebate, and it's one of the worst purchases I have ever made.

Don't get me wrong, it copies and scans wonderfully. But its primary function is to print - but it fails here.

I depend on good ink quality for shipping labels, resumes, academic papers - and ink splotches started appearing, gaps on the printout that repeated head cleaning and maintenance could not fix. So much paper was wasted in between 'nozzle cleanings' that would, at first, temporarily fix it before I would have to clean the nozzle heads again 10 pages later. And each time it warns you 'that cleaning the heads uses up ink, are you sure you want to do this?' No, but I had to. All the time.

Customer support was nonexistent, besides, I hadn't purchased a warranty - they were sure to remind me of that so they wouldn't have to lift a finger to help me after the 30 day guarantee.

The software that comes with this printer is batty - on one of its 'good days' when it worked perfectly and printed great quality, abruptly it claimed that it was low on ink and would not print another page. There was no override for this, even though I knew there was about a half of a cartridge left.

Then, after I replaced the half-empty ink cartridge with a fresh one, it prints out spatters and streaks everywhere. Stripes and gaps all over the paper. I clean the nozzle heads, which some times work. Three nozzle cleanings later, and it is saying that now the cartridge, which is brand new and 98% full, is now too low to print any more pages.

With a term paper to turn in, I reached the end of my rope. Four months after I purchased this thing, innumerable blood pressure spikes from helpless frustration, wasted paper and ink, I am throwing it out where I'm pretty sure it started - the trash pile.

I am never buying Epson again. Don't make my mistake and waste your money. Unless you want a printer for only 30 days, kind of like the disposable cameras of yore.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rage against the machine, April 30, 2006
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
I've had this all-in-one for about 6 months.

Positive: the scanning and print quality are very good.

Negative:
- It prints *incredibly* slowly; I'm comparing it to other inkjets here, not a laser jet.
- It goes through ink very quickly, and the ink is exceedingly expensive (do this math when you think about buying a printer; I'm pretty sure any HP inkjet I've had is more economical)
- It won't let you print *at all* if any of the four print cartridges are empty. At least with HPs, if I'm out of ink and desperate for a page, I can just pick a color that's still in stock and print with that. Right now, as I sit here with an empty yellow print cartridge and an entirely black-ink project that I'd REALLY like to get done tonight, this is a total dealbreaker for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Printer....if it would install! :-(, February 27, 2006

MissAngi (North Olmsted, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
I've read AWSOME reviews on this printer. For the price bracket it is in, I've heard it is a great printer that does the job well! After many months of research and reviews and articles, I desided to purchase this printer. I got it from officemax.com for about $60 after rebate. It was delivered for free 2 days later. I tore open that box like a kid on Christmas morning! Only to discover, after hours of trying, it would not install. First I was getting driver errors. Then I was getting communication errors. I contacted Epson tech support only to have them tell me to do the same steps I did 20 times before. I even went out and got a new USB cable incase that was the problem, no luck. So here I sit, 3 days after delivery, and hours and hours of work and frustration.....and no printer! :( I spent hours on google trying to find some nugget of information, nothing. Tech support is clueless. This evening I even went to Office Max and exchanged the printer for another one, and still the same exact problems! Im clueless! Im going to try CALLING tech support (previous corrispondence has been via email) in the morning to see if they can help. If I still cant get it installed Im going to have to find a new printer and return this one. Its a shame, I was really excited for this one!

If anyone has had the same problems, I would LOVE if they could tell me what they did to fix it! missangi@super-babies.com

Good luck for anyone else who is attempting to install this printer! I consider myself an advanced computer user, and this one has me stumped!!!

God Bless,
Angi

2.0 out of 5 stars spend a little bit more, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One (Office Product)
For a few bucks more you can get a decent 3 in 1 from HP that will probably work better than this. I thought it was cool that instead of one multi-colored print cartridge (cyan, yellow, & magenta) it had separate cart's, but the down side is that they don't hold much ink and when you run out of one color you are done printing until you replace it (i.e. if you're out of yellow, you can't print a black text document). There are 2 things that really bother me.
1. I wanted to be able to scan a page of text and import it into a word processing program, but according to Epson's tech support, you can't do it unless you purchase additional 3rd party sofware...my old HP would scan into MS Word right out of the box.
2. The fast print/low quality mode is SO fast and SO low quality that it's basically useless and I have to print even the most minor temporary prints in higher quality (using more ink which I have to replace more often).
