Product Description

Color: Black

Brilliant results. Smart value. Replace only the color you need with individual ink cartridges. Best of all, only one set of cartridges is needed to print amazing documents and great photos. There's no need to spend additional money on specialized cartridges to print on either plain or photo paper. Epson's revolutionary DURABrite Ultra Ink produces smudge, fade and water resistant prints that look brilliant on both plain and glossy photo paper.

These cartridges last a long time.

I can rarely find my ink locally so this is a great time saver to be able to purchase reasonably priced online.

I would not buy an Epson printer or cartridges again.

With average use, this cartridge barely lasts a month.

I was, at first, delightfully surprised by how affordable Epson ink is compared to HP. ...only to find out that, under average use, this cartridge has only a fraction of ink the (seemingly) more costly cartridges have. I'd rather pay more for a greater sum of ink. Then I'd only have to shop for & replace cartridges 2-3 times a year. At this rate, I'll be shopping every few weeks & lifting the hood to replace them as often.

What's worse is that, if magenta, yellow or cyan run low, THE PRINTER WON'T ALLOW YOU TO PRINT WITH YOUR FULL BLACK CARTRIDGE. So, I'm forced to buy magenta, just to use my full black cartridge. If I ran short on color, my HP would allow me to use black. If I ran short on black, I could use blue.

I'm also quite turned-off by the misleading name. There is nothing 'ultra' about a tiny cartridge that doesn't even last a month. Epson offers a "High Capacity" ink which I've only found at Office Depot & Epson's site. It has twice the ink. What's that, a whopping 6-7 weeks of printing?

WF-2540 is a nice, affordable printer, but these tiny cartridges & their misleading names are a disappointment. I miss my old HP printer. I'd change the ink, print til my heart's content & wouldn't have to worry about ink for months. That printer lasted ten years.

This ink is no more affordable than others. You get what you pay for - little price, little ink. It's just rather inconvenient.

Because of the ink, I'm now selling my Epson on Craigslist & going back to HP>

These cartridges are very inexpensive, especially if you buy multi packs. They're decent for most printing jobs, but not necessarily for true color printing of photos that you want to display or keep permanently.

The package is misleading. The "ultra-standard capacity" just means that these are standard capacity cartridges. I'm not sure what the "ultra" is all about.

I noticed that even though my computer showed the estimated ink level to be 50%, the printer was telling the computer that it could not print because the cartridge was out of ink.

Still, ounce for ounce and page for page, I think these cartridges are cheaper than the HP ink cartridges. I finally scrapped HP after getting tired of buying ridiculously expensive ink cartridges, not being able to print B&W when there was plenty of black ink, but no cyan; warnings that using third party ink cartridges voided the HP warranty; and having a printer driver that was flakey at best with Windows 7 (and Vista before that).

The bottom line is these cartridges are inexpensive, and in the long run, I think they're adequate for a basic printer (school projects, home office printing, etc.).

I AGREE with several other consumers whole heartly!

EPSON CARTRIDGES (200) for the ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER (WF-2540) is a big joke!

It doesn't make any sense that EPSON would "purposely" design a printer cartridge that would make the customer (via word of mouth) tell others NOT to buy their product (printers). Unfortunately, THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING TO DO!!!

My goal is to let as many CONSUMERS as possible know "exactly" how many cartridges it will take to make these "pricey-poorly-filled" cartridges last for a few "modest" printing jobs.

I use to own a Kodak Printer (after approx. 9 yrs.) it finally broke from wear & tear. Unfortunately, I didn't buy another KODAK BRAND...I thought I'd give the EPSON BRAND Printer a try since it was on sale. I regret that I did!

EPSON PRINTERS blow through that little ink in them in no time. In the future I will NOT PURCHASE an EPSON BRAND PRINTER (I don't care how low the sale price is)...their company will get you in the purse for all those ink cartridges you will have to purchase just to get modest printing jobs done.

Don't even think about using a "generic" brand ink cartridge in their printers...it will FLASH a WARNING sign across the display panel stating that the "cartridge is not recognized" "OR" it will state Please add a new Epson Cartridge!

Additionally, EPSON rig their PRINTERS to only ACCEPT the "initial" set-up cartridges when you FIRST use the printer. I "misplaced" my initial set-up cartridges and just decided to purchase new ones to get my printing project done...little did I know that when I FOUND the "initial" cartridges...that the EPSON PRINTER would "REJECT" them! What kind of company purposely "set-up" their printer devices to do this!

Joke's on me. I thought I was getting a great deal at $13, until the ink ran out after printed 15 pages of normal text. A dollar a page Epson? No thanks. If you only use your printer to print in emergency situations, perhaps this is a good solution... but if you plan on using your printer to, you know, print stuff, look elsewhere.

Nice to have all colors in one box, except I wish it had black. These cartridges just do not last long at all.

I use this printer and this low volume cart at the office for printing envelopes only. I can print a few hundred envelopes with it, and the print is crisp, black, and 100% reliable. I've never had to clean the heads or do maintenance for the print quality. I have installed only Epson brand carts. For low volume printing, say 150 pages of text a month or less, it is a worth while purchase. There is a high volume version of this cart but in the price vs pages printed ratio there is no advantage to that cart.
