Quick, convenient control
The Epson EX71 offers a host of user-friendly features for quick, convenient control. With Instant Off/On, there’s no warmup or cool down time required. If you chose to install your projector, power the projector on and off with the flip of a wall switch with Direct Power On/Off. Use the A/V Mute Slide, or Sleep Mode, to instantly pause the presentation so the audience can focus their attention on the presenter, as opposed to what’s being projected. If the slide is closed for a set period of time, the projector goes into Sleep Mode, which can be set to activate at any time between 1 and 30 minutes. This convenient feature is not only energy efficient, it contributes to a lower overall cost of ownership.
3LCD technology — for quality and color that’s beyond amazing
3LCD technology delivers amazing color and detail. Whether it’s big-screen entertainment or a boardroom presentation, 3LCD technology takes video performance to the next level. Delivering legendary image quality, this innovative technology always ensures powerful visual presentations.
3 chips in every projector for full-time color — With its 3-chip design, 3LCD delivers clear and vibrant images that are so true to life, you may not believe your eyes.
Road-tested reliability — 3LCD technology has been the world’s leading projection technology for 20 years and has consistently been the choice for users who demand long-life performance and reliability.
Energy-efficient light engine — The 3LCD light engine efficiently uses available lamp light to create stunning images. In contrast to 1-chip DLP technology, 3LCD requires 25% less electricity per lumen of brightness.**
With WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, the EX71’s 16:10 aspect ratio allows you to fully utilize the capabilities of your widescreen notebook, giving you 30% more image area than a regular 4:3 projector and 10% more than a 16:9 projector. And, the Epson EX71 still offers the flexibility of displaying 4:3 and 16:9 images, as needed. Furthermore, it displays widescreen, HD video content for the ultimate entertainment experience.
Amazing color and white light output With Epson projectors, your presentations are sure to shine bright. The Epson EX71 delivers 2500 lumens of color light output and 2500 lumens of white light output* for rich, colorful images. Whether you’re projecting images with deep, dark colors or a white screen with minimal text or graphics, you get consistent light output. And, with Epson, you can be confident you’re getting what you need because Epson measures white light output according to the ISO 21118 standard, a more rigid standard than the maximum or outdated ANSI lumens rating used by competitive products.
Energy-efficient E-TORL® lamp The innovative E-TORL lamp, exclusively from Epson, is a reliable performer that delivers more lumens per watt and lasts up to 5000 hours.*** Switch the projector to Normal Mode and the E-TORL lamp still produces up to 4000 hours of light performance. The special E-TORL design minimizes both light diffraction and light leakage, providing you the ultimate in lamp longevity. And, E-TORL replacement lamps cost up to $100 less than competing replacement lamps. So, while the E-TORL lamp maximizes your presentation time, it also minimizes your costs.

An excellent HT on a budget projector!,
By
This review is from: Epson EX71 Multimedia Projector (Office Product)
First, let me start by saying I am a DLP guy. Screen doors and less than stellar blacks are usually the knock on mid level LCD projectors. What possessed me to take a chance on the EX-71 when I saw it in the "open box/demo" section, I don't know. Needless to say at $629, this projector is very much worth it's price. Given that this is suppose to be a presentation projector makes me wonder how the settings can be so good for viewing sports and movies right out of the box. Tweaking the settings only helps the image quality, but I can't think there are many business projectors that are this plug and play for home theater.
I also have to comment on how bright this unit is. I just got done watching "The Car"(anyone remember that "classic" from your early HBO days?) on HD cable with the sun beaming in and the picture wasn't close to being washed out.It was amazing how good the PQ was.Keep in mind that the image is 100" and I'm viewing it from about about 10 feet away. I should point out that I have been viewing in ECO mode as well, so you can preserve the lamp while still getting a great image. The shortcomings of this unit for me are the following. It is not a native 1080p projector so it is impossible to get the same image say as the higher priced Epson 8100. Also, an additional digital port would be great(HDMI or DVI) but it should at least have another component(red, green, blue) input, whether it be the three RCA ports or an additional VGA input. Lastly, the fan noise is more than passable but it could be just a hair quieter. All pros and cons considered this is a great entry level projector for HT at a price around $650 or less. If you just want to upgrade your "big screen" tv or are looking to replace your first projector for one a little brighter and with an HDMI port, than this unit is for you. Otherwise, cough up another $400-500 dollars and get one of the "budget 1080p units that are coming out now. It all comes down to your expectations.

Great device with only one con,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Epson EX71 Multimedia Projector (Office Product)
This is my first projector, so I didn't really know what to expect from a projector. I have seen company and school projectors so I knew what kind of image to expect.
This thing is great. I use the HDMI port connected to my laptop, and I usually watch movies with this thing. Regular movies and DVDs look nice, and HD looks amazing, it's not true ultra-holy-cow 1080p HD, but it is HD nonetheless. Definitely worth the money. Screens across a medium sized room will easily do 150 inches diagonally. Color is clear, bright and strong. ECO mode's light brightness is great, on Normal mode you can leave the lights on and still have a good experience. The one con is blacks. Watching a scary movie with lots of blacks? Playing a game that's dark and gritty? Don't expect any real black but rather the wall as it would be normally, except slightly darker if it's a lit room. This problem is easily remedied by a grey wallpaper and/or a completely dark room, but sometimes that's not possible. This is a problem associated with all cheaper, LCD projectors and not this one projector, though, so don't be quick to label this as "EX71's flaw" but rather LCD's flaw. All-in-all I love this thing and will be using it for a long time.

John at Lake Park,Ia Just bought an Epson Ex71 projector with an Epson Duet screen to show our friends pictures of our China trip. Super Bowl Sunday I used the projector and screen to watch the game. Used the HDMI port for a high definition picture. The picture was awesome, vivid, bright and true to life, just like one was at the game. The sound from the protector was good but not great. Highly recommend both the EX71 projector and Duet screen.
