Grade 6-10. This book's ambitious scope makes oversimplification inevitable. Each weighty topic, including the economic impact of prostitution, changing roles of parents, the nature of God, body image, etc., is afforded a two-page spread of photos, drawings, captions, tangentially related quotes, and?oh, yeah?some text. While the format is visually attractive, the treatment of the subject matter is weak and imprecise. For example, a discussion of educational limitations states, "Women's lack of schooling often made them seem stupid. But now girls are catching up."
