5.0 out of 5 stars Bring back McCall!
Oh, please release The Equalizer on DVD, complete seasons. It is an excellent show and I can't find it anywhere on TV anymore. I miss it a lot. "Manon" is a pretty good episode, but as others have stated here, not the series best. The show touted some excellent guest actors over it's run. Everyone should watch it if they get a chance. Fans of Woodward...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT BAD BUT ...
Not bad, but there are much better episodes that could have been released. Please release more! This is one of the last of the best TV shows that was really original. They don't make them like this any more.

"Manon" is a pretty good episode, but as others have stated here, not the series best. The show touted some excellent guest actors over it's run. Everyone should watch it if they get a chance. Fans of Woodward should check out the movie "Mister Johnson," with Pierce Brosnan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Other Episodes Should be Released, November 2, 2000
This review is from: Equalizer: Memories of Manon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Like the earlier reviewer, I feel that this one does not showcase the great writing and acting of this moderate "hit" from the 80's. Edward Woodard is excellent as the enigmatic Robert McCall, vigilante with a hidden agenda directed against his former employers - a cleverly disguised "take" on our own CIA.

For the uninitiated, this tape is entertaining, but there are so many other installments that are much more satisfying. However, "Memories" is still a good introduction to one of television's "coolest" characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equalizer: Memories of Manon, May 24, 2004

My husband is the all time biggest fan of the equalizer. He once had a toothache and he called me at work and asked me to make him a dental appointment. I called him back to say they could see him at 3pm and he refused to go because the equalizer was going to begin at that time. I made him tape the episode so that he could keep the appointment! (Mind you, it was a re-run but that never seemed to matter to him!) He always used to sit and "analyze" the episode after it ended. He finally turned me into a fan too! Please consider putting the episodes on DVD for each season, my husband would love me for a million years if I bought them for him!

4.0 out of 5 stars extra Equalizer episodes available...., January 1, 2003
This review is from: Equalizer: Memories of Manon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
For many years I am a huge fan of The Equalizer series, but unfortunadly they do not run in Europe anymore for some years.
I have bought this video several years ago and I still enjoy watching it. This video is a release of a 2 episodes serie, and it is very good I have to atmitt.
Fore years I was looking for new releases of The Equalizer in many countries, but nothing was released untill today.
I was excited to find a 3 video box with 9 episodes of The Equalizer last week in London. It says volume 1 so there will be more released very soon I hope.
The box is a compilation of the series over 3 years of broadcasting, which includes the Pilot episode and some other good episodes.
It is enjoying to see Edward Woodward in new episodes after so many years and lisytening to the beautifull music of Stewart Copeland.
The video can be purchased via the Internet but I found my copy at the Virgin store.
Unfortunadly Amazon.com has not included it into their product list so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Equalizer, where to find more titles, November 5, 2001

Having been an avid fan of Mr Woodward since his early Callan days, I have been on the prowl for the videos of the Equalizer series for the past ten years. I have managed to find that at least in the UK there was a video only available to the rental shops and that we have to wait ansd scour the sales and memorabilia exhibitions.
Foretunately I taped a lot of the episodes as they were braodcast, my favorite is the xmas episode when his son agrees to come home at the last minute, have drank many a fine malt to the closing end of that episode on a cold winters night stood by my own xmas tree. Will advise if find any more

5.0 out of 5 stars Calling McCall, October 9, 2005
This review is from: Equalizer: Memories of Manon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Where is the Equalizer when we need him? Is this all we have left to remember him by? What a great show. There were some really good episodes. This one will have to do for now. I could hardly wait each week to see it. Now I wait for a DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Average Episode of a Great Series, October 23, 2000
By
This review is from: Equalizer: Memories of Manon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am an ardent fan of the Equalizer series and recommend this or any other episode. The show usually addressed critical social issues intertwined with meaty non-standard CIA super-spook intrigue. Although the "Manon" episode(s) was one of the most touted episodes (by the network), it is not one of my personal favorites - it lies somewhere in the middle for me. Made later on in the series, it has some excellent side actors, but as a long-time fan I found it sometimes trite with a couple of predictable twists. Melissa Sue Anderson is one of the guest stars and although I admire her, particularly as Mary in Little House on the Prairie, I found her character to be a distraction in this episode lending a whiney, squawky "typical victim girl" flavor (probably the only reason why I won't give it 5 stars). Of course, Edward Woodward is a treat who shouldn't be missed, and Robert Lansing is always a winner, so I recommend this to anyone who is familiar with the series. Some of the nuances might be lost on someone who is not familiar with details of some of the interpersonal relationships of the characters. What makes it all worthwhile is the final vignette between "Robert" (Woodward) and "Control" (Lansing), signature stuff of the series.

I really miss this show a lot, and would buy DVD's of this show.
This TV series is in the same quality like; The Avengers,
La Femme Nikita, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Where the Actors have to plan and think their way out of Danger.
