5.0 out of 5 stars CATATONIA DO IT AGAIN!
Catatonia's latest album 'Equally Cursed And Blessed' is the long awaited follow up album to the acclaimed and, frankly spectacular, 'International Velvet', and as such ran the slight risk of not living up to expectations. Not so! Equally Cursed And Blessed is another example of Catatonia's seemingly boundless talents, with sounds ranging from rock ( Storm The...

3.0 out of 5 stars what can I say? We`ve heard them better!
In this record, I`m quite dissapointed. With International Welvet I thought Catatonia finally was back on track again, but it looks like I was wrong. This CD is too booring...easy as that. The moment of joy is when Cerys Matthews with her sugarlips sings "make hey, not war" on the song "dead from the waist down" Cerys voice is exactly what makes me...

5.0 out of 5 stars CATATONIA DO IT AGAIN!, April 25, 1999

This review is from: Equally Cursed & Blessed (Audio CD)
Catatonia's latest album 'Equally Cursed And Blessed' is the long awaited follow up album to the acclaimed and, frankly spectacular, 'International Velvet', and as such ran the slight risk of not living up to expectations. Not so! Equally Cursed And Blessed is another example of Catatonia's seemingly boundless talents, with sounds ranging from rock ( Storm The Palace) , to mildly Gaelic ( Valerian), through to disco (Karaoke Queen). Other tracks such as Bulimic Beats ( complete with delicate harp accompaniment) , Nothing Hurts, Londinium and Dead From The Waist Down show off the band's lyric writing skills and Cerys' amazing vocal abilities to the max, with the excellent track Dazed, Beautiful and Bruised bringing this brilliant album to a close. In a nutshell, if this album doesn't bring Catatonia the success and acclaim that 'International Velvet' brought them, then it will be a huge travesty. It's absolutely brilliant and deserves every success. I said it about 'International Velvet' and I'll say it again. Miss it, miss out!

5.0 out of 5 stars When will America get it?, June 18, 1999
By A Customer

Once again the Brits have us beat with their taste in music. This album is brilliant yet you can't even get it here without buying it on import. If your tired of listening to the same American rehash we've been hearing ever since "Nevermind" give this a try. You won't regret it

The moment of joy is when Cerys Matthews with her sugarlips sings "make hey, not war" on the song "dead from the waist down" Cerys voice is exactly what makes me give it three stars instead of two! I know Catatonia will make a great record if they only try - they`ve got all the potential!!! As a big fan I can only sit down and wait...

Wow! This Album really is great. Although it wasn't as good as the first it still deserves five stars. I'm looking forward to the next album

I realy like this album, it is as good as their last one. My favourite track is Londinium. I live in London, so it is easy for me to relate to. As I said for their last album: BUY IT NOW!!
