5.0 out of 5 stars Best description of radiation hydrodynamics, June 16, 2000
I had the fortune of finding this book while I was interested in studying the radiative transfer of polarised radiation. It was really great! I am convinced that this book is a real jewel for anybody interested in radiative transfer. A rare subject like Stokes polarisation is treated with simplicity, great detail and deep understanding of the underlying physics of photon transfer. Some years later I had the privilege of meeting personally the author during one of his visits to the University of Bologna. I treasure the remember of this meeting with such a fascinating mind which had deeply impacted the whole field of radiation diffusion and my own career.

3.0 out of 5 stars Important historical text on radiative transfer, November 7, 2009
This review is from: The Equations of Radiation Hydrodynamics (Dover Books on Physics) (Paperback)
This book is considered one of the standard books on the subject. It was out of print for many years and I could not locate a used copy. I finally bought it when it came back in print as a Dover publication.

It is a very difficult book to work through. I am not a big fan of PN and SN type methods since I belong to the Monte Carlo form of transport religion. The book will not be particularly useful in writing computer code; it focuses on theory. However, it is still worth the buying considering the low cost.
