About the Artist
In 1986 at 16 years of age, Gilberto González eagerly began his studies of music in the University of Guadalajara, in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Focusing in the area of classic guitar, he graduated later as a music instructor in 1990. As a member of the Folkloric Ballet of the same university, Gilberto performed weekly for more than three years in the esteemed Degollado Theater (Home to the Philharmonic Orchestra of Jalisco), obtaining important awards in national and international tours. Gilberto continued his studies of modern harmony and improvisation with professor Mario Romero, and using books and videos of the world's most important contemporary guitar players, learning different techniques and styles in Jazz, Rock and Latin music such as Brazilian, Cuban, flamenco, etc. In 1996 Gilberto started a new group, GRADOS ALTERADOS, which experimented whit new Latin Jazz fusions, he was also the producer of the First and Second Tapatío-Jazz festival, reuniting the most outstanding musicians of this genre. In 1997 González achieves his first production titled "GRADOS ALTERADOS", in which he toured nationally. In 1998 Gilberto came to the United States to work with the singer and composer PERLA BATALLA performing in the following states: California, Nevada, Utha and New Mexico. Months later he met guitarist Jon Francis, since then, the two have played venues throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura, for the last three years.
