The Equus 3120 Innova CanOBD II/I Diagnostic Code Scanner Tool Kit is an enhanced scan tool that is loaded with many professional features. If you are new to diagnostic scanners, this handy tool connects to your vehicle, scans various parts of your car, truck or SUV, and retrieves a list of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and code definitions from your vehicle's computer. This device not only scans your vehicle, it also allows you to freeze-frame live timing and pinpoint your vehicle's problem. Instead of having to recreate a scenario over and over again, you can now playback the timing to scrutinize all the data and make a clear diagnosis. Many tools have already been developed to access these powerful on-board vehicle computers, but the Equus tool is particularly simple to use and surprisingly affordable. It is designed to be used by almost anyone, from the weekend mechanic to the ASE master technician. The 3120 CanOBD II/I scanner is designed to retrieve diagnostic codes in all OBD II (1996 and newer) and some of the most popular OBD I (1982 to 1995) vehicles. The scanner features a unique patented all-in-one screen display and LED display for quick OBD I/M emissions check, so you'll know if you're ready to pass those ever-increasingly stringent laws. Equus built the 3120 to display on-screen DTC definitions and user interfaces in English, Spanish, or French, and the trilingual language selection is accessed via a simple menu command. This device also stores diagnostic codes in a handy memory for off-car review and analysis. The 3120 is also equipped with the ability to connect to your PC. With the included cables and software you can connect the scanner to your computer to generate, print, and save detailed diagnostic reports, and even update the 3120 via the Internet.
The 3120 links to all OBD II protocols including CAN (Controller Area Network). The tool captures and displays freeze frame data that will help you pinpoint and troubleshoot any problem. This device is equipped to retrieve the following OBD II diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs): Generic Codes (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and Manufacturer Specific Codes (P1, P3, and U1). In addition, the tool features an automatic refresh feature that updates data every 30 seconds when connected to the vehicle. This helps verify that your repair has worked.
The Equus 3120 can also perform diagnostic scans for the following OBD I vehicles:
- General Motors: all 1982-1993, and some 1994-1995 models
- Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury: 1983-1995 models with EEC-IV systems (KOEO, KOER, timing check, cylinder balance test, output state test, and wiggle test)
- Toyota/Lexus: 1991-1995
- Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth: 1984-1995
- Jeep: 1993-1995
All-in-One Screen and One-Push Button Functions

The 3120 is different. Using a combination of its patented all-in-one screen, that allows for viewing 25 pieces of vital information in three languages--English, French or Spanish--all at once without having to search through multiple menus, and single-button function access, users are guaranteed quick, efficient access to data they need.
Patented Emission Status LEDs
Over 30 States now use an OBD2 based system to check for emissions readiness, making it more important than ever to be aware of the status of your vehicle and to keep it running in top condition. With this in mind, the Innova 3120 has been designed with the ability to read the exact same emission information as these state-required tests do to see if you will pass the first time around. Built around a simple color-coded system where Green = Pass, Yellow = Potential Problems and Red = Fail, users are able to quickly diagnose potential emission issues with the 3120. Other tool manufacturers charge over $100 for this feature alone and a separate tool has to be purchased, but the 3120 includes this with the price of purchase.

Yes, the 3120 is easy to use to retrieve error codes but BEWARE; it does not display live operational data, it is limited to just what is recorded in the vehicle computer memory. For only that, its price is not justifiable.
My mistake in missing the distinction between the 3120 and 3130 in the on-line product descriptions. My mistake in buying the more expensive 3120 instead of the much more capable and less expensive 3130.

This is the first scanner I've ever owned, and I found it to be easy to use and easy to understand. When I had a question I emailed their tech support and got a reply that even I could understand within an hour. In addition to our late-model car, I used it to check an older model (1985 Ford Ranger) equipped with OBD1, and the accompanying adaptor worked perfectly. I'm very happy with this product.

This is a class "A" scanner for the money. It employs all the protocols
including CAN. The only vehicles it won't work on that i am of aware of are 1995 General Motors "S" & "T" series trucks. As an ex-aircraft mechanic I am very satisfied with this product for the price.Equus 3130 Diagnostic Code Scanner with Live, Record and Playback Data Capability for OBDII (Post-1996) Vehicles
