The best feature of this meter is the 10 Meg ohm impedance, which allows
accurate voltage measurements in almost any electronic circuit. Other
low priced meters with 1 meg ohm impedance will give false readings when measuring across resistances of 1 meg and above (you'd only get half the true voltage reading
because the voltage divides equally between the 1 meg resistor and 1 meg
meter.)
Clever features are the wrist strap (very handy) and the clips for holding the probes, which work pretty well if it's not rattling around inside a toolbox.

Another good feature for mechanics is the auto shutoff, which gives you a short beep after a few minutes of use, and a longer beep as it shuts off a few minutes later.
This preserves batteries and stops battery drain if the switch gets
accidently turned on (again, rattling around inside a toolbox can do
this) but in a lab environment it's a bother and it'd be nice to be able
to disable it.

We've bought five of these meters for use as readouts in High Voltage
lab experiments (the voltage divider circuits required 10 meg impedance
meters) and when compaired to our best $300+ multimeter, the voltage readings were spot on for two meters, and 0.02, 0.03, and 0.05 volts low for the other three, the worst being only 1/2% low. Hopefully they'll stay
this accurate.

In short, low price doesn't mean low quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good home and shop meter, February 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Equus 3310 Hands-Free Digital Multimeter (Misc.)
Overall, this is a good meter for home and shop use, especially for the low price. I was looking for a meter that would properly test batteries, and selected this one after a bit of research. I'm very happy with its performance, and would buy the same meter again.

PRO's: The meter has dedicated settings to test many battery types under load. Most general purpose meters can't do this. This is the perfect meter if you want to test your rechargeable batteries, and still want other more general meter functions. The ranges will be more than sufficient for most people. The continuity beeper is loud enough to be heard in noisy environments, which can be a problem with some other meters. The display is plenty big enough to see easily, even with my old eyes.

CON's: The ACV tops out at 500v, and the probe wires are only rated for 600v, fine for most uses, but not for 3-phase motors. The soft plastic clips that are supposed to hold the probes to the side of the meter are pretty useless.

A good meter, don't let the low price put you off as it's better than many more expensive meters.

There are 2 versions of this model; the Original Equus 3310 and the newer version the 3310 + (Plus). The Equus 3310 + is missing 2 things the original 3310 had which is: 1) A pop out tilt stand on the back of the unit (so it can stand on a bench or desk at a 45 degree angle) 2) Colored green or yellow bumper pads on the corners of the unit (to protect it from being dropped). Most of the reviews and the picture on the current Amazon Ad are for the 3310 original. I own 2 of these which I keep handy in 2 separate tool boxes and they are awesome! I sure wish I could find a 3rd one for my electronics workbench. The updated 3310 + version (now currently being sold by Amazon) actually says "3310 +" on the unit itself whereas the original only had 3310 on the unit. Removing the bumper pads is bad enough, but the missing tilt stand on the back of the unit is even worse. This means when using the plus version on a bench or desk it has to lay flat making it more difficult to read and use. For bench / desk use the tilt stand is a must, anyone who has used meters with a tilt stand will tell you this.

I've tried to locate places to purchase the 3310 original and I haven't found any. However the Equus 3320 Auto-Ranging Digital Multimeter has both the tilt stand and the bumper guards. Currently it's listed on Amazon for $18.14! I've found the 3320 to be as good or better than the old style 3310. The 3320 has all the great features of the original 3310 plus it does auto ranging (this is where you don't need to manually select the value or range for your measurement, the meter will choose the correct range automatically). I've found the 3310 and 3320 to be very accurate for meters in this price range.

Looks like the manufacturer decided to redo the 3310 and save a couple of bucks in manufacturing costs by eliminating the tilt stand and the bumper pads. They should've called the new unit the 3310 - (minus) :-)

I bought this to troubleshoot some electrical problems I'm having with my motorcycle and to monitor the charge of my battery. This device can be used in any number of other applications and you can't go wrong for $17.

The meter delivered was not the one on the product ad. Feels solid. Uses 2 AAA, included. Can measure 10A DC. Does not have stand on back. Has an elastic band to hold on to arm. The cables are good quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Are You Looking For?, February 4, 2011

This Multimeter works great! There are no problems I have encountered in the time I have owned it.
That being said, what are YOU looking for in a multimeter? This is excellent for the average electronics
hobbyist, but if it is a professional multimeter you are looking for, this one is not for you.
It is better than entry level for an entry level cost, and for that I give it 5 stars.

Good luck finding a better deal elsewhere! ; )

For the price, a really good multimeter. I like being able to wear it like a wrist watch, leaving both hands free, and the probe holdin clips are also nice.

This review is from: Equus 3310 Hands-Free Digital Multimeter (Misc.)
Every 10 years or so I need to replace my cheap little meters I keep around the house for small jobs. This time I may not need one for 20 years. Quality name at a great price with auto shut off that I definitely need.
