Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Third release overall and second album for this project of French musician Eric Levi who creates ethereal, evocative soundscapes in the tradition of artists like Enigma and Deep Forest. The follow-up to the first multi-platinum volume features 10 tracks which enchant with a blend of skillful blend of electric instruments and violins, covered by otherworldlyvocals. 2000 release.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply outstanding, February 12, 2004
By Petar Vodogaz "Commissioner" (Sydney, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Era 2 (Audio CD)
Era II follows on from the success that Era I had incapsulated. The only reason I didn't rate the CD 5/5 was that the last track 'In Fine' was not a proper way of ending this spectacular CD.
This CD is a must for any Era fan, as Eric Levy has masterminded 9 songs of pure delight and bliss. The gregorian harmonies are in sync with the deep strumming of electronica and makes listening to a nice blend.
Hymne, Mirror and Omeno Sore are the highlights of the track followed by After Time, the female vocalist excels again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manila Bar, Brazil, February 13, 2003
By Ray Kendrick (Liverpool, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Era 2 (Audio CD)
I first came accross Era 1 in the Manila Bar, Vitoria, Brazil.
Played very loud in a Disco Bar, it seemed a strange choice of music, which quickly became a cult to all those who entered.
On returning home, I tracked down the Era 1 cd, and on investigating discovered there was a sequel already out in Era 2.
"Omen Sore" A reintroduction of themes set out in Era's original album.
A mixture of Gothic Rock, and Classical Harmonies.
"Divano" The "Ameno" of the first album. A catchy tune which I can imagine could soon appear as a backing track on a ducumentary. Could become a hit record, if given any "Air Time".
"Divore Amante" Chilling and haunting vocals.
"Sentence" Mixture of Classical and Rock themes, with clear vocals of Lena Jinnegren.
"Don't U" Slow harmonies which would be an instant #1 if attempted by the likes of West Life. Hopefully it never will be though.
"Infanati" Slightly weaker than the rest of the tracks, but only just.

"Madona" Catchy Orchestral theme with outstanding vocals.
"Hymne" Full Orchestral beat with Lena Jinnegren coming through loud and clear over the Choiral Harmonies.
"Misere Mani" A return from the Original Album. If only 1 track had to be remixed, then "Ameno" should have been the one.
"In Fine" An Irish beginning.... No middle....
The Play List fails to warn that the track continues after a brief stoppage. The weakest track on the Album.

If you like Era 1, then you will certainly like Era 2.
I would like to find out more about the Origins of Era, especially Eric Levi, and Lena Jinnegre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable , December 29, 2004
This review is from: Era 2 (Audio CD)

This cd is absolutely GREAT for your body and mind.
The composer lives in Belgium and I once had the chance to talk to him.
He told me the history behind the composition and that's amazing.
He told me that it was written after several operations he had to undergo, and the music we hear is a registration of the feelings he had in hospital.
He started with some rough lines he had written in 1998 and 2000, and then he created this masterpiece !

This is amazingly good music. There is nothing I know of to compare it to--kind of a cross between Gregorian chants and rock. I'll probably buy a few more of their CDs. Read more
